Basically Toga as a kitsune AU

Toga in this AU is, visually, a kitsune. Not by natural means, as in it's her original quirk, but rather by doctor's orders - y'know? Would so lore drop but I've got a whole ass doc I gotta curate and make into an actual Ao3 without deleting the damn thing, sooooo

What I will share:

After basically everyone fucking DIES in the war (also note that I've only gotten back into MHA solely because TogaUraraka!?!?), and notably because Twice gave her "his" blood(this is so relevant in the next paragraph), Toga gets nabbed after the two LESBIANS pass out. She's then incorporated by these suspicious medical specialist-- under the guise of being house-arrested in a windowless, guarded hospital that's also sectioned off, and that this is within her favor with Ochako's vouch-- into a body that is the makeup of 8 other individuals, the ninth being her as its base. Took inspo from the pokemon ninetails lore that nine powerful beings combined themselves and their power to conceive the ninetails pokemon.

ALSO, not even a spoiler, just a REALLY cool thing I think that I thought up: Toga has an auxiliary liver of sorts that functions like a heart. See, it didn't make sense to me that Twice's clones were able to donate and keep the blood donated from becoming mush after they, the clones, do, as Toga would be dead if so. SO, I made girly here special with a mutation that comes in the form of an extra organ that assimilates foreign blood into her specific type of blood, because she herself cannot make her own. And the reason her blood is able to be compatible with Ochako's is because, yes, Toga was taking her form, but also because Toga's blood is able to shift and adapt in a way that I can't explain without spoiling a huge chunk of my AU.

And just to note: The fake hospital staff wanted her awakened quirk because, hey, Nomus were some hot shit trend, so why not remake AFO as one.

Oh, and she suffers a lot for being my favorite character. Half the individuals used to remake her are her found family. And children, unfortunately, because I wanted to use the random-ass canon lore drop that quirks in every new generation are getting unbearably stronger. Eri type shit

Hello, Red, I just think you should be informed of this, despite having withdrawn from your moderating responsibilities. I hope this can be of use to resolve this situation, as I think a genuine apology is due(maybe a dm to the young fellow mentioned in the original post would be appreciated).

And in case you are thinking of Raven Nerd's case here, I do not think they are at any fault and should be left as is. Pinterest is a very chaotic media from what I've seen and I would be lying if I denied I hadn't been shown some unfamiliar nevermore art from time to time.

Not only pressuring an obvious child here, Red-- you have the audacity to ask why they think they have "control in the conversation?" and should you "pardon their attitude?" If feels so egotistical, that you're on a constant authority high.

This and the time you shut down anyone who asked about the situation of those who were banned for apparently no reason other than being a suspected alt-- Your aggression and foremost, above all apparently, sassy attitude to a group who you're(I assume) aware are minors, is downright just gross. If i would be so frank, it feels majorly like an ego stunt than anything else.

This display of witch-hunt-- the blatant disregard to this child's mental safety here, and their just panicky responses. Why ask in the first place if all you're going to do is force your assumptions on this kid? Playing "bad cop" is and will never be the correct reaction when it comes to trying to figure out an uncertain situation(even with how you sound so sure, you still came to ask).

And honestly, I am even more enraged by the fact just a few days prior about the Crimson's Unbanning argument you chastised the discord audience about "witch hunting," despite acknowledging you know less than those actually included(who have spoken out, and whom were subsequently banned. Hey there, sorry for taking a while to respond, I’m sick right now and just recently woke up. If there’s any typos that’s why. I do have receipts for this, quite a few in fact, but I’ll share some important ones since honestly it’d take far too long to go through every single one. If the formatting for this ends up being wonky or I apologise, I started this on mobile and it’s buggy. If I’ve accidentally sent images grouped wrongly then it’s because tumblr is confusing, I’ll clarify any that I have in the reblogs. I also accidentally posted this twice because I’m a dumbass, sorry if you got two notifications, I’ve fixed that.

For starters there’s concerning messages of hiwi saying stuff that’s inappropriate and is directly just victim blaming Ada.

I’m sure I don’t need to explain how that’s inappropriate, and for anyone who doesn’t know, what Monty does to Ada quite literally does in fact classify as sexual assault/harassment. She doesn’t want him touching her regardless of it was just her hair, and was coerced into barking for him on her hands and knees. For added context, Monty’s spectre is a dybuk, which is quite literally a Jewish rape demon. I mention it being Jewish because I find it incredibly convenient that Monty’s nose was suddenly straight the second we were supposed to like him and that his hooked nose only returned when in a fear dream in a church. Not to mention they’ve implied the incredibly Jewish coded man to be in a position of power within a church and implied to be money hungry. Even if unintentional that’s not a good look. It’s incredibly easy to read it as such and this is why you have sensitivity readers (actual ones and not just patreons who are shown upsetting things without permission).

Which brings me to my next point; his mother!

Red themselves has directly confirmed that Montressor being raped by his mother in an intentional interpretation of his fear dream. For obvious reasons, there are numerous things that making the southern American man with a thick accent be the one with the intentional incestuous relationship with his mother is incredibly stereotypical and upsetting regardless of intention of not. Red used the patreons in stream as a test audience for the thumbs of this episode with no content warning whatsoever, and several of them are minors. They’ve also been known to purposefully avoid content warnings because it “ruins the surprise” (medical trauma with Lenore and Prospero, Gore with Pluto’s eye, Berenice being hit by a cop car or it looking like Duke was lynched when chained up, for example, which come on now there’s no other way to read that other than it being racially motivated. Even if it was unintentional flat out acting like other black people who are fans of the comic are in the wrong for pointing it out or for being upset over it being used for gore and shock value is wrong) and “it’s our job to make you uncomfortable” in response to the backlash over montrada in the beginning, which no actually, it is not your job to make people uncomfortable, it’s your job to tell a story and if you want to talk about uncomfortable topics use content warnings

And by all means please don’t interpret this as me saying that you can’t write stories with serious topics such as these, you absolutely can, and I say this as a literal CSA (child sexual abuse) survivor myself who was abused by their mother, but this isn’t the platform nor the target audience for that, nor is it being handled in a respectful manner at all. In addition why is the character who’s intended to be a CSA survivor the one whose spectre is naked with noticeable piercings that people have used to sexualise him or joke about? The fact that Ada’s fear visions all include themes of SA is disturbing enough alone because most of the time it’s just used for fan-service like Prospero’s one, which also did not have any content warnings. They can use the excuse of it being a gothic and dark story all they want, that doesn’t negate the need for content warnings.

In relation that brings us to another point, the sexualisation of characters in the comic. It’s mostly Annabel Lee who faces this but she is not the sole recipient. It’s been an issue all throughout the comic but i’ve seen it getting worse recently with the appearance of the garter belts, something which was only really put into view when she was being attacked by another man (and this is not to say Duke was in the wrong for retaliating against Annabel after what happened to him, this is not the current point, they’ve both attempted to murder each other) and has been repeatedly mentioned by red or has been encouraged to talk about. I am incapable of showing all of the evidence for this as there is just too much to show, but going back to search in the server during that time has plenty of art that’s inappropriate, including a peice by Flynn. The entire playboy bunny suit era where everyone (including red and flynn) was drawing characters in them is another issue. It’s also disturbing to me that they have Lenore call Annabel a “good girl” (a trigger word that her father uses) and sexualise it and then proceed to romanticise her behaviour in the latest chapters, because yes Lenore’s actions (including physically grabbing and intimidating Annabel) do in fact fit the bill of an abuse. Again, you can absolutely write these topics, but this is not how you do it.

For anyone who doesn’t know, playboy bunny’s were victims to utterly horrific things and there’s countless articles on this and victims coming out about it, which I’ll link some of below, I still encourage people to research more if they want. Fair enough if you didn’t know that bit but quite frankly it’s still an inappropriate outfit to be drawing them in and sharing in an all ages server. Also for gods sake maybe just don’t put the disabled woman (Lenore) in a sex slave outfit, there’s already a lost list of ableism in the comic, that just makes it worse. Pluto’s father is a downright caricature of a working class impoverished northern English man with an exaggerated accent, not to mention he’s the only person who’s physical disability is actually shown (Lenore miraculously gets better, which under no circumstances could she realistically recover that fast, nor does she have a cane. We don’t even see pluto’s eye nor is it mentioned until we see it ripped out) and it’s used for a gore/shock value scene. I and many other people with the accent and background they are poorly trying to represent find this upsetting. Please just do more research and talk to the kinds of people you’re trying to represent. Just because you didn’t intend for it to be offensive doesn’t mean it’s magically not.

Which brings me onto my next point, knowingly allowing inappropriate art. I’ll keep this short as I admittedly cannot find all of my screenshots at this moment and I’m still searching, but there’s been countless times where I and many others have risen an eyebrow at some things sent in fan gallery as it’s borderline soft porn or fetish art at this point. Here are a few. (Apologies for the first few images, I can’t find exact screenshots of it being sent in fan gallery, I just have the art, but I do know it was sent in fan gallery. (these people should not have been encouraged or allowed by rnf to post this here, they should know better.)

There was also the time Red insisted JK Rowling wasn’t racist for naming a character Kingsley shacklebolt when told directly by a black person that it was indeed racist. JK Rowling is publicly, racist, anti-semetic, a flat out holocaust denier and a raging transphobe who regularly donates money to organisations who want trans people like myself and many others to suffer. I do not have the room in this main post to show the pictures, I will reblog with them. If I’ve accidentally included them in another group of pictures apologies, website tumblr is a pain.

There was also the incident in which red sent an anonymous confessions page hate mail. They admitted to this publicly and have said in private that they’re convinced they were just sending themselves asks. Regardless of how tame or awful they think their ask was it’s still hate Mail. Again, I do not have enough space for these images so I will reblog them if anyone wants that, though personally considering Red already flat out admitted to sending it in public that’s already enough evidence to prove they did it.

Next there’s various inappropriate things red or others have said. I could go on for days but here are a few examples and am still digging them out as we speak and my photo albums are notoriously messy.

Unfortunately there’s also this below that I’ve been made aware of and honestly I’m just genuinely confused. I don’t exist in this fandom, I’ve posted maybe a few fanfics months ago, entirely silent in between and after, and literally had not spoken in the discord for several months (and even then if I had it was a few random messages). There is no “parasocial obsession” to speak of, there is no harassment and stalking as I literally do not talk to them (actively avoid it, actually) and am not part of the fandom or discord anymore, I haven’t been for a long time. I don’t talk to red, they flat out make me uncomfortable. If you wish for proof on how little I’ve interacted with the discord before I was banned then please do search my username on there. I have not spoken in patreon spaces or to the patreons either as the vast majority of them also make me uncomfortable. I was barely even in the fandom for a year and that alone is highly debatable because I haven’t been active for most of it. The only reason I am mentioning any of this now is because they’ve gone too far.

The only time I have actually spoken to Red other than in passing occasionally like practically everyone else in the server has is when Red themselves has shown up in my dm’s unprompted (which is incredibly unprofessional by the way, you have mods for a reason, use them) to ban me for what I can only assume was suspected leaking as I used to be in the patreon myself. Except they refused to share any evidence whatsoever and told me “assume I know everything” (which is a literal abuse tactic, by the way, abusers say this to scare their victims for a reason) and “you just want to know how much I know.”

I was in a whole ass different country and was asleep during this. I did not know what was going on and was accused of trying to dig for information. If you have genuine actual real proof I did something then by all means sure, genuinely if you have proof of anything I’d gladly take the fall for it, but that still doesn’t excuse the actions and behaviour of the people involved, nor does it excuse knowingly allowing a pedophile back into your server. You can’t seriously say and do these kinds of things and not expect people to share them. I’m sorry Red feels upset about this but quite frankly it’s not about their feelings anymore. The second you make a space you claim to be safe for minors with yourself in a position of power you immediately put their safety over your own personal feelings. You do not take these kinds of risks when you already have evidence. It’s not worth it and it’s wrong. You put people in danger.

Below is the direct message I received from Red a few months ago, one of the names mentioned has been blurred because they are a minor and I am uncomfortable dragging them into this. The other name mentioned also hasn’t done anything other than express discomfort with the montrada situation. She wrote a vent fic far before montrada was even a thing in canon and people have regularly held it against her.

I’m disappointed but sadly not surprised that people are still defending Red and Flynn (hiwi too) when they’ve been flat out given proof, there are several posts with it and I will gladly give anyone who asks links to them. Victims shouldn’t have to fight tooth and nail to be respected and believed in the first place, the evidence that they let a pedophile back in and knew what they had done should be enough to worry about alone and it’s incredibly disheartening to see people defend these actions just as much as it’s disheartening to see all the people who’ve been hurt by them.

Regardless of how or if Red apologises these things are personally unforgivable to me. You are never obligated to forgive someone just because they apologised. You are allowed to say no, it is your own choice to accept or refuse it. I just hope to shed more light on the things that’ve happened so people can make an informed choice.

I do not give a goddamn fuck about what Red and Flynn say about me anymore. You’ve already proven that you’ll willingly lie to make yourselves look better. They’re awful people who make me feel uncomfortable and I’m done giving them the attention they want.

I apologise to anyone who has suffered in this situation, you do not deserve this.

...You've literally just missed the entire point dude. I hate to break it to you, but people are allowed to have private discussions over public media or things that upset them. The screenshots involving me and others are from a private server. Your server is not private.

The fact that you've literally manipulated your way into getting your hands on private conversations is bad enough and downright concerning. You're not entitled to police private conversations like that just because you don't like what's being said there. It's not even a Nevermore side-server for a "clique" it's quite literally just a server for a group of friends. That's not even mentioning how you're blatantly twisting a lot of things that have been said to fit your own narrative.

I'll admit I straight up did share patreon content to a few close friends, I'll own up to that. I shouldn't have done that and I do genuinely apologise for it, it was shitty to do and I shouldn't have, but this has nothing to do with you allowing a pedophile back in (regardless of if you banned them again, it shouldn't have happened in the first place) and your previous inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour, not to mention you act like I'm the only person who's ever leaked things, because big surprise there are countless other patreons who do so. If you don't want people to screenshot you then don't say utterly foul shit in the first place.

There is still evidence against you and evidence you ignored regardless of who sent it. People are going to have takes you don't agree with, your comic is public media, you're going to get a few batshit theories or takes sure, that's how the world works. You're not at fault for being upset over those, it's normal to be upset over that. It becomes a problem when you've ignored countless people trying to tell you they're uncomfortable or why things are bad and act like you know better than them by either diminishing them for their age or things they've been through. Then it becomes your fault. None of that excuses your previous behaviour before this specific incident either. Not even bothering to research and double check to make sure what you're writing isn't offensive when it's public media and free to view isn't good either.

I'll also admit I haven't put things together in the most eloquent way, but this has been a long time coming and people have been uncomfortable with your treatment of them for a long time. I really don't see why you're trying to insinuate l'm a stalker just because I have screenshots of you saying concerning things when by your own interpretation of the word stalker you're doing what's essentially the same thing.

The vast majority of this post isn't even an apology, it's just a call out post to try shift blame and another attempt to victim blame people. It doesn't matter that one of the people involved was 12 years old, they shouldn't have been there at all yes, but it's not their fault for being groomed and abused. Crimson shouldn't have sent anything in the first place. An 18 year old (now revealed to be 19, actually) is an adult, you should know better than to act that way at that age. You knew, you'd been given evidence and you ignored it and claimed it wasn't good enough evidence. It is not the fault of a victim for being abused and you still let them return despite going back on it once everyone called you out.

This will be my last post on the topic, I will not be continuing this conversation further. Please do not attempt to contact me, I am incredibly disgusted in the way you talk about both me and my friends and everyone else involved in this situation. Regardless of who's at fault this is not and will never be the way to handle a situation like this and it is incredibly unprofessional for you to act this way. I know you will not listen to this or actually genuinely read this, therefore I see no point in trying to reason with you when you’re so set in stone.

So, I was actually feeling pretty motivated to write this post yesterday. But things have gotten exponentially worse, and I admit the pressure is getting to me. There seem to be a ton of expectations surrounding what I should be saying here, in order to… I guess, absolve myself? As if there’s a checklist people want me to go through to perform the “perfect” creator apology. But, I don’t see the point. I care a lot about this community and I think you deserve something a lot more sincere than some hollow chat-gpt apology. I understand that that’s foolish, on my part. Things are done that way so often because they work. But what you’ll find throughout this post, is that I’m kind of an idiot about some things. I’m stubborn and hard-headed and a little bit pretentious. And so, what I’m planning to do here is to simply tell you the truth about what happened. No cherry picking. All my mistakes, but also the context that goes with them. And at the end, my formal apology. This is a long and winding tale with a lot of characters. I’m going to be sharing some usernames as we go, in the interest of clarity and transparency. You’ll understand why with the context. But please do not seek these people out. Don’t pick fights with them. It will only make everything worse, for all involved.

Cool? Cool. But first I need to address the elephant in the room. This will probably seem like irrelevant drama at first, but this is the nuance and background that I wasn’t adequately able to articulate the night before last. In more ways than one, this is a story told in twos. The first set of twos is you, the readers. Who you are, and what you’re hoping to find out in this post.

1.      The overwhelming majority of you, are earnestly wanting to understand what has happened in the Nevermore Discord. You are concerned that I am not who you hoped I was. You are disappointed, and I understand why. To you, I am so sorry. I want to say that things are not as bad as they seem, but that is not for me to decide. You will need to draw your own conclusions from the words I write. And I understand, whatever you choose to do next.

2.      And there is a small, but incredibly vocal minority of people who are absolutely living for this. They are spreading complete fabrications with no screenshots to speak of. Horrible, horrible accusations. People who are more excited about watching a dumpsterfire than they are about the series that brought them here in the first place. I’m not going to attempt to cater to those people in this post. Because nothing will ever be good enough. Everything that can be taken in bad faith will be taken in bad faith. It would be pointless. But you’ll see them in the comments and reblogs. This is a known group to not only myself, but many others. I will share some of their names in a later section so you know who to watch for. They will make a lot of noise around this post because they’ve been trying to make something like this happen for actual years. And now that I had a genuinely concerning response that good people reasonably want me to explain, they’re lunging at the chance to throw absolutely anything at the wall. It’s parasocial levels of hatred. This is some deep and horrible lore.

The next set of twos is how two things can be true at the same time. And that is exactly what is going on here, in this situation. Let me be really clear, because I don’t want either truth to be lost in my explanation as they are intrinsically linked to one another.

1.      I did a downright terrible job explaining myself in the Discord when people started asking about crimson. I can give you all kinds of contributing factors for this, and I might later. But none of them really matter. It was incredibly careless of me to use “egging them on” and “cried wolf”  to describe what I understood. At the time I was really laser-focused on expressing what happened as simply and quickly as possible because the channel replies were paused and I felt like everyone was just waiting for me to be finished with my message. But after stepping back, I immediately understood how badly I messed up, because of course these idioms are routinely weaponized against survivors of SA and CSA. That is not how I intended to use them. It was an unfortunate case of one thing looking and sounding like another thing. Incredibly ham-fisted and irresponsible on my part. To the survivors who read my words and felt that it echoed their past experiences, I’m heartbroken that I did that to you. That lapse of judgement was a betrayal to both you and me. I don’t know where my head went, and I’m just blown away by my own lack of awareness in that message. So for that I am and will continue to be sorry.

2.      The second thing that can be true is that, while you are all absolutely owed an explanation and an apology, there are also some people amongst you who are using this fuck-up on my part as a springboard to take me down.  These people have been trying to get a call out post to pop off about me for at least a year, and they have been very quick to jump into the reblogs and comments about this very serious topic with complete lies and slander. Just, anything that might stick to the wall. We’ll address this later on as well. But please understand that me discussing the harassment I’ve faced from these groups is not at the expense of me also owning up to my faults and taking the proper accountability.

And the last set of twos is one I’ve alluded to in the first sets, concerning a pair of toxic side-servers that ran adjacent to the main Nevermore Discord. Completely unofficial cliques. And invisible to myself and Flynn and our mod team. We were eventually made aware that both of them were breaking laws and Discord ToS in ways that leaked into our server and affected our members negatively. As such, both groups were mass-banned. And the cliques are the ones running a majority of the discourse you’ve been seeing here, because while they are formally banned from the discord, we have absolutely no say in their participation on Tumblr. Now, keep in mind. Both of these groups were uncovered after crimson was banned the first time. That’s important later.

Clique #1

My understanding of the first group is that it started as a gaming server for people who met one another through the Nevermore Discord. I don’t know when or why it started being used to talk shit about other readers, but I do know that it got really vicious. And it was sort of an open secret for long before I knew anything about it. I found out after that there were a lot of people passively in this server, just observing. It was that much of a spectacle.

Now, this clique had been pretty rude. Like they’d try to start fights with me in the discord fairly often, both in the Patreon and free spaces. But it wasn’t grounds for dismissal until we found out about the baiting and the alts.  These people had a lot of grievances, but one really united them: they were extremely upset about anyone who would ship Prospero.

Many of you know, that Prospero is an aromantic character, canonically. And you may notice that canonically, he has no apparent love interest. But this group wanted to make sure other readers were not thinking about Prospero in relationships, or creating ship content of him for any reason on the grounds that it would be considered a “proship.” I told them (and I stand on this) that it’s not up to them to police the thoughts of other readers, and that aromantic people have widely varying lifestyles and experiences and do not need to be infantilized that way.

This turned out to be a bad move on my part, because it brought with it an onslaught of alt accounts coming in and "innocently" kicking up what I now refer to as the “prosp-aro” debate every time they had the chance. But because of this and what a common occurrence it was, we started being able to pick out the alts. And we realized that this group of people had been using the same alt accounts with different names to antagonize certain readers they’d decided they hated, and it had gone on for a long time.

I did a lot of investigative work in dms trying to figure out who all was responsible for the harassment, and settled on a list that was vetted by three different people who knew about the clique. And all three of these people insisted that, while Laci was in the group and in a lot of the screencaps saying pretty dubious things, that she was good people. So I believe them, and let Laci stay. This group was banned on April 3, 2024, and contained the following users:

-          lilnatx (nat)

-          suitino (sushi)

-          jj_the_jet_plane (layden)

-          rivsticks (jasper)

-          atheimee (athena)

-          jinxs.com (lanx/jinx)

-          smartestginger (nico)

-          thereallandofbugs (bugs)

-          rosienemui (rosie)

These were the names they were known by on the Discord. I don’t have the Tumblr accounts tied to these identities. But some might be the same. I know a lot of them are here.  It should be noted that jinx was later unbanned due to pressure from Laci that they had been banned in error, after the fact. We allowed them back in after a few days as a favor to Laci since the situation seemed like it was very stressful for her. This would prove to be yet another a mistake since, as you have probably seen in the screenshots from the night before last, jinx rapidly escalated things to another level while I was trying to figure out how to handle crimson’s unbanning and subsequent rebanning an hour later.

Clique #2

Phew. Still with me? Great. The second group we needed to ban was one that actually started long before the first one, but was a lot smaller and comparatively more subtle. This group, to my knowledge, cropped up around the time that ep. 39 of Nevermore was released. (11/10/22) We knew about this group but not who all was involved in it or in what capacity for a very long time. They would consistently post things on Tumblr trying to start a scandal. I recall posts alleging that we were racists, or SA apologists, or that we were sending death threats to a random confessions account.

To be clear, these allegations are completely false. This clique will say anything. Like a recent post one of them put up during this discourse said that hiwi (our mod) is both a r*pe apologist and a childhood friend of mine and that’s the only reason she hasn’t been banned. Hiwi is absolutely nothing of the sort, and I have never met her in person. In fact, she lives on the other side of the continent.

Now, this clique is a little different than the first. The first, to my knowledge, was a group of friends that got toxic and felt morally superior about their opinions and it all kind of got away from them. The vibe was a little catty, I guess. Gossipy. But this clique has more of a stalker vibe. It’s dark.

They’ve had it out specifically for me for as long as I can remember. And some of them (at least one, at all times) would subscribe to our patreon, both to sow dissent in our stream chats and also to leak literally all the content back to the others, including me talking about random shit like what I ate for lunch. Just so they could like. Laugh about it, I guess. I’ll never understand why. [Editing note: because in the final moments of proofreading this post I see one of these people has made some master post about what a terrible person I am? A lot of those screenshots are from Patreon channels and the guy STILL has them laying around. I’m telling you, they stole everything that wasn’t nailed down.] 

The biggest grievance this clique had is that any ship with Montresor is an “SA fetish ship” because to them he is a r*pist because of how he made Ada bark (?) and since Montrada is canon, that means we are supporters of SA, and that Morella and Ada should be together instead. Listen, I’ll level with you, this one baffles me. I don’t even know how to begin to untangle it. But if you see a lot of vitriol about us being SA apologists from these users, it’s because Montresor exists. That’s pretty much it.

You can ask them for screencaps ‘til you’re blue in the face, but unless they build fake ones from the ground up, they’re never going to be able to back up their wild claims. Simply put, they’re provocateurs, and they use the scariest words they can to whip people up into a panic.

We became aware that they were leaking patreon content when one of them was caught publicly referring to things that were being said behind a paywall when we knew they weren’t a patron. It unraveled from there.  People who knew about their antics shared screenshots and information with us, and we finally realized the scope of the clique’s hatred and banned whoever was even left in the Nevermore Discord. But they continue to be active in the community on tumblr. You’ll have seen them around. They were banned on 5/11/2024 and the names involved are as follows (again, a mishmash of discord names, nicknames, and tumblr accounts):

Again I’d like to reiterate. The point in sharing these names is not to incite any sort of response against these people. But they are folding themselves into the fray and doing what they can to whip everyone else up into a mob, and all as we’re talking about a discord server that they have been banned from for months now. The above context is also relevant for the next section, which is why you’re all here in the first place.

What the hell happened with Crimson?

I hope it’s not confusing, but now we’re going back to 3/14/2024, before anything I just outlined above had come to light. The cliques were quietly doing their harassment and baiting and raiding and whatever-the-hell behind the scenes, but Flynn and I and the mods were blissfully unaware of how bad it was getting. We get a dm from Laci. The same Laci who was part of Clique #1 and was rescued from being banned with the others by her friends outside the group. Jinx’s friend, who managed to get them unbanned as well. You have probably seen these screencaps already, but I will show them to you again, just in case.

Sufficed to say, we were immediately alarmed by the information Laci shared in her DM with us. Now, I want to be very clear about this because it’s been lost in the game of telephone. What Laci outlines in her dm to me, were the events that occurred between six users (including crimson) in a group chat with minors. Everyone in the evidence was censored (pfp and username), as was the image that crimson showed them. When I asked, Laci agreed to give me one name of one of the minors in the dm. I’ll call them Alice, but that is not their real name. I asked if I could talk to Alice about this, I was told by Laci, no. Alice doesn’t want to talk. I was like, ok I understand, that’s fine. 

I hope it makes sense when I say that it is not feasible for us to moderate the things that happen in peoples’ dms. As you’ve seen above, the mod team doesn’t usually get involved with drama unless whatever is happening is directly affecting the experience people are having in the Nevermore Discord because that is all we can see and the only place we have any real authority.  But this was obviously a special case. We banned crimson very quickly without asking any follow-up questions, because of course we did!? I’ve seen people say I’m harboring or defending crimson or that we’re buddies but we barely spoke, ever. They were a stranger to me then, and they still are now.

But something about the entire situation wasn’t adding up to me. And I want to be clear that none of this is in any way meant to discredit csa survivors, I’m really just trying to put you in my headspace and walk you through my thought process. But I found that the evidence was just, sort of strange. Laci started her dm explaining that she found this information out because she and a group of people were investigating crimson for ‘art tracing’ which felt, to me, like a bizarre non-sequitur and totally irrelevant next to the evidence of them showing nsfw content to minors. Petty, kind of. Like I wanted to ask – why were you doing that in the first place? People trace Flynn’s art all the time. As long as they’re not selling it, it’s not a big deal.

Most of the crops are from a PC but the windows are oddly small, and only contain a couple messages at a time. Some have American formatted time and some have European formatted time. So different users, I assume? The names were blotted out, which I would understand for a public call-out but not for a private report to the mod team. Laci was not in this gc at any point in time, despite being the one to report. 

One of the users was apparently 12, to which I ask – what is a 12-year-old doing on discord at all? If we knew who they were, we would have reported the account. Discord is not a safe place for a child that age, let alone a small group chat. Along with 18-year-old Crimson, there was also a 22- and 17-year-old in the chat, which left us wondering – why hadn’t anything been done?

I had no evidence that anyone ever told crimson they were minors, and I feel if it existed, it would have been in the screencap dump (I find that sometimes a noticeable lack of key evidence is evidence in itself). No one seems to have tried to kick crimson from the group chat or report their account for inappropriate behavior. Then there’s the fact that this is a group chat. Anyone in it can leave at any time. 

Then I came across the messages that started this whole gc, and it only got stranger when I realized Alice started it, called it “Women Lovers” and created it “so we can talk about Nevermore women without having to filter ourselves” after they all reacted to a sultry but sfw drawing of Lenore that crimson had made and posted in our hideout channel. And all that made me wonder why Alice didn’t just kick crimson, if she had admin power?  Do you see what I mean? It’s just all a bit head tilty. I noticed it at the time. But I said nothing. Because it didn’t matter. Crimson, no matter what happened, exposed minors to nsfw content. And that’s on them. And I’ve never in my life defended it. We banned them.

Crimson was beside herself. She came off humiliated and apologetic, and insisted she had no idea and begged to come back to a community she said she loved. But we told her no, there’s no coming back from doing what she did.

Time passes and we uncover Clique #1. And while we figured out who the main players were, I dmed with Laci. And it was Laci herself, who tells me that it was Alice who made most of Clique #1’s alt accounts, and that it was Alice who used those alt accounts to harass people and try to get them to start fights or say something that might get them in trouble. 

And I’ll be honest with you, the mod team still didn’t think much of it, outside of – we need to figure out which accounts were the alts. So we did. We had several confirmed to us.  And those accounts were zeroing in on certain users that the clique didn’t like. At the time we noticed two notable targets in addition to the mod team. I won’t name them, it’s their business if they want to weigh in about all that. But in screencaps, they’ll be labeled Target #1 and Target #2.

More time passes and Clique #2 comes to light. As you can imagine, by now we’re feeling disillusioned, and very tired of trying to moderate shit we cannot see for ourselves. And that’s when crimson comes back to very hesitantly ask if they might be able to appeal their ban. It wasn’t until then that it occurred to us that Laci (on behalf of Alice) was the only one who ever reported anything to us about Crimson. 

And I want to just say that again. Because it’s gotten lost too. Laci was the only person who ever reported Crimson. There was not one single other person who ever sent a modmail or a dm or even a ping to anybody on the mod team. I have since (only yesterday) seen some screencaps that are rather skin crawly, but even those happened in yet another side server. Thinking on this, the mods went back through the known alt accounts Alice had used. And they found that Alice harassed crimson both on her main account and on the same alt accounts that she used to harass the other targets.

By now, Alice is banned for completely unrelated reasons. Not because of what happened with Crimson. I’ve seen that one flying around and I’m sorry it’s just not true. It’s because she was relentlessly harassing and cyberbullying people in the discord we moderate. Laci is still there, but had lost my trust, for being involved with both the drama I’ve mentioned here and more that I don’t care to dip into. It’s ultimately irrelevant. But what am I going to say to Laci? “Hey, did you and Alice, by any chance, coordinate some kind of bizarre trap together to get crimson banned from the discord because you suspected them of tracing their art?” And once again. Because I want to keep this top of mind. Even if that were the case, it doesn’t make what Crimson did alright, and it never will. Sharing nsfw content in front of minors is a disgusting thing to do. And one that we frankly are really irritating about in the moderation of the discord. I’ve heard people say that we over-moderate when it comes to art. 

But all this stuff about a “known pedophile?” If it was known, then we were on the outs. And to even this minute right now, I don’t have any conclusive evidence that Crimson is a pedophile. The evidence I have is that Crimson shared nsfw with a group of people whose ages they did not know. Which is fucking gross. It’s an adult’s responsibility to make sure they’re speaking with other adults before posting things of that nature. 

But at the time, the way I read the situation is that Crimson had only just stopped being a minor and was egregiously negligent in how they were speaking and what they were posting, likely in part due to them not being aware enough of their adult responsibilities.  And hey. I know some of you are chomping at the bit. You can call me naïve for this! This is what I’m referring to when I say that I can be a real idiot. But I feel everyone has been very quick to call Crimson a pedophile. I know this is pedantic to say, but the prerequisite for being a pedophile is “being attracted to minors.” Based on the information I had at my fingertips, I did not think Crimson sought out these minors. Crimson was invited to the gc, they did not ask to join. 

I have seen discussions about all the things crimson did to their victims since we unbanned them but I have not seen screencaps to support that whole ‘marriage proposal’ thing, and again I think it sounds a bit odd coming as a pedophilia accusation from someone only one year younger than crimson.  

But you know what? I don’t know crimson. Maybe we were wrong. But even if we weren’t, I realize in hindsight that it was a stupid decision for the mod team to give them a second chance. We didn’t have anyone to consult about what happened because all the other people in the chat had been obscured from me and I didn’t feel like Laci would give me a straight answer. 

The mods and I felt at the time that crimson, like the other targets of Clique #1, had been singled out and that they deserved another very closely monitored chance in the discord, which they said they still missed dearly. I’m a bleeding heart, alright? A total sap. I know that. But being honest with you, I felt bad. It feels horrible to be singled out and targeted. And I was probably too close to that feeling at the time, seeing as we were on the tail end of finding out the Clique #2 had pursued me so relentlessly for so long. 

So for my part, I’m sorry. I made a rash decision that was influenced by some very personal circumstances. And we should have left it alone. Based on the evidence I've seen, I don’t know if I personally would call crimson a pedophile and certainly I wouldn't call them a known pedophile, but I am regretful that we risked it either way.

When I was trying to explain all of this in the west common room channel two nights back, things had boiled over and were already getting out of hand very quickly. A lot of brand new accounts were joining the discord with one word intros just to start conflicts in the public server with crimson. Alts. Either from banned users or burner accounts. And I got panicky. One of the mods paused the messages in west common room but no one besides me was available to handle the situation at that moment. Reacts about being silenced were pouring in and I felt pressured to quickly take over and try to explain. 

In my rush, I stupidly didn’t backread more than a quick skim. And I ate shit, y’all. You saw. One thing I want to state outright. I’m talking a lot about my thoughts and my feelings and it’s because I don’t wanna speak for Flynn or for the mods. But I didn’t make this decision alone. In fact, I was dragging my feet and being really lazy about okaying the whole thing. Just because I was busy, not because I was fretting over it or anything. But I had to be pinged and then literally tapped on the shoulder by Flynn, asking me to respond to mod chat when this was being discussed earlier that day. That doesn’t change the fact that I was part of the decision. I agreed to unban crimson. Foolishly. I understand that, now. 

I hope that now it makes some more sense though, how it came to happen. I never meant to hurt anyone. My own past and present feelings got in the way, and I own that. But in the moment, my personal intention was to give crimson a second chance because I felt that they’d been targeted by Clique #1. Not to ignore anyone’s concerns or make them feel unsafe, even if those were the ultimate outcome.  

So, completely underprepared and defensive, I jumped into west common room and I just. Blew it. Totally fucking blew it. I knew it instantly but it’s hard to stay logical when people are telling you you’re vile and evil and they’re sick that they ever thought you were a good person and that they’ll never see you the same way again. My mind went blank and I don’t really remember much of what happened next. But I said what I said, and I should have done better. 

I wish there was a word bigger than sorry. I’m beside myself. I know there was probably a way to make everyone happy. To make everything okay. But I wasn't clever enough to figure it out in the moment, and it eats at me. So it’s like I’m sorry for my poor judgment and my terrible choice of words, but there’s another layer where I’m also sorry for not matching how wonderful this community is with how wonderful (or well, unwonderful) I was two nights ago. I promise I am going to work harder to be better for you all.

Again, to every victim of SA and CSA, my heart is with you, more personally than you might realize. I don’t think I could have handled my explanation in a worse way. And I’m so so sorry.

Moving forward, I am also going to take an enormous step back from moderating and participating in the discord in general. I feel like a lot of this happened because I was still treating it like it belonged to a smaller fandom, like Shiloh’s. But realistically, I don’t have time to both moderate and make the series itself, and I really dragged my feet on being honest with myself about that. And for that too, I apologize. We’re going to get more mods, they’re going to have full control of the moderation, and Flynn and I are going to do what we love more than anything in the world and just make Nevermore.

I understand if you won’t be there for it. This is not a flattering picture I’ve painted for you. And you’d be well within your rights, to decide not to give us another chance. Red, let me address the Crimson first and foremost: a situation of which you have been informed of thoroughly and repeatedly by many sources, most of which being the victims/minors. (Laci, not a direct victim, is one for example: she had given you uncensored proof)

"Alice" was in an agreeance of the creation of the gc, yes. "No filter" could be interpreted in many ways, especially with many different pov's on the matter. However, in my case, knowing "Alice" is one of the minors that were harmed in this situation, and whom who had left the gc after being exposed to the sexual material sent by Crimson, as well as I having been active during that time within the discord, "no filter" to me referred to simple text-based thirsting.

And no, people were not mainly upset that Crimson had "traced art," like how Crimson was unbanned in the server, Crimson having traced art caused a rise of suspicion/uproar that eventually led to the digging up of the "Woman lover's" gc being unveiled by those involved.

And Red, your opinions about either clique in this matter is, in my eyes, incredibly biased(as it does happen to be your pov, and your tone tells your thoughts in bright colors) but, I am sorry to be blunt, irrelevant to this conversation. You have a suspicion they were concocting obsessive masterminded plans for years? Why? Having in-server arguments about the controversies of proshipping and unproved(even when you had mentioned it in the server) accusations that they were "talking behind your back". Red, I have the sense that you take only by word of mouth. I would love genuine evidence of this. And yet, just what does that have to do with Crimson? Why exactly is that such a center point when it is blatantly there that you were incompetent.

Speaking of, this is not an apology, red. You are pushing the blame onto who you deem as enemies, and you are guilt tripping as you had during the entire argument during. I AM disappointed in you. Why are you acting as if you aren't part of the center of all this drama?

AND SPEAKING OF, you and your mod team now looking at the other adults of the "women lover" gc in suspicion as they "should have taken action" completely contradicts your argument for Crimson. The adults in that group weren't aware of minors, much like Crimson,. The AUDACITY to try and blame, despite what you may think as they are adults, also victims, was(to have watched) and still is(as you have stated in your apology here) disgusting.

Thank you for banning Crimson, thank you for your time to have written all this. But there are STILL crucial things amiss here:

For my "Guilt tripping" claim:

Wow, hello!

So, I was actually feeling pretty motivated to write this post yesterday. But things have gotten exponentially worse, and I admit the pressure is getting to me. There seem to be a ton of expectations surrounding what I should be saying here, in order to… I guess, absolve myself? As if there’s a checklist people want me to go through to perform the “perfect” creator apology. But, I don’t see the point. I care a lot about this community and I think you deserve something a lot more sincere than some hollow chat-gpt apology. I understand that that’s foolish, on my part. Things are done that way so often because they work. But what you’ll find throughout this post, is that I’m kind of an idiot about some things. I’m stubborn and hard-headed and a little bit pretentious. And so, what I’m planning to do here is to simply tell you the truth about what happened. No cherry picking. All my mistakes, but also the context that goes with them. And at the end, my formal apology. This is a long and winding tale with a lot of characters. I’m going to be sharing some usernames as we go, in the interest of clarity and transparency. You’ll understand why with the context. But please do not seek these people out. Don’t pick fights with them. It will only make everything worse, for all involved.

Cool? Cool. But first I need to address the elephant in the room. This will probably seem like irrelevant drama at first, but this is the nuance and background that I wasn’t adequately able to articulate the night before last. In more ways than one, this is a story told in twos. The first set of twos is you, the readers. Who you are, and what you’re hoping to find out in this post.

1.      The overwhelming majority of you, are earnestly wanting to understand what has happened in the Nevermore Discord. You are concerned that I am not who you hoped I was. You are disappointed, and I understand why. To you, I am so sorry. I want to say that things are not as bad as they seem, but that is not for me to decide. You will need to draw your own conclusions from the words I write. And I understand, whatever you choose to do next.

2.      And there is a small, but incredibly vocal minority of people who are absolutely living for this. They are spreading complete fabrications with no screenshots to speak of. Horrible, horrible accusations. People who are more excited about watching a dumpsterfire than they are about the series that brought them here in the first place. I’m not going to attempt to cater to those people in this post. Because nothing will ever be good enough. Everything that can be taken in bad faith will be taken in bad faith. It would be pointless. But you’ll see them in the comments and reblogs. This is a known group to not only myself, but many others. I will share some of their names in a later section so you know who to watch for. They will make a lot of noise around this post because they’ve been trying to make something like this happen for actual years. And now that I had a genuinely concerning response that good people reasonably want me to explain, they’re lunging at the chance to throw absolutely anything at the wall. It’s parasocial levels of hatred. This is some deep and horrible lore.

The next set of twos is how two things can be true at the same time. And that is exactly what is going on here, in this situation. Let me be really clear, because I don’t want either truth to be lost in my explanation as they are intrinsically linked to one another.

1.      I did a downright terrible job explaining myself in the Discord when people started asking about crimson. I can give you all kinds of contributing factors for this, and I might later. But none of them really matter. It was incredibly careless of me to use “egging them on” and “cried wolf”  to describe what I understood. At the time I was really laser-focused on expressing what happened as simply and quickly as possible because the channel replies were paused and I felt like everyone was just waiting for me to be finished with my message. But after stepping back, I immediately understood how badly I messed up, because of course these idioms are routinely weaponized against survivors of SA and CSA. That is not how I intended to use them. It was an unfortunate case of one thing looking and sounding like another thing. Incredibly ham-fisted and irresponsible on my part. To the survivors who read my words and felt that it echoed their past experiences, I’m heartbroken that I did that to you. That lapse of judgement was a betrayal to both you and me. I don’t know where my head went, and I’m just blown away by my own lack of awareness in that message. So for that I am and will continue to be sorry.

2.      The second thing that can be true is that, while you are all absolutely owed an explanation and an apology, there are also some people amongst you who are using this fuck-up on my part as a springboard to take me down.  These people have been trying to get a call out post to pop off about me for at least a year, and they have been very quick to jump into the reblogs and comments about this very serious topic with complete lies and slander. Just, anything that might stick to the wall. We’ll address this later on as well. But please understand that me discussing the harassment I’ve faced from these groups is not at the expense of me also owning up to my faults and taking the proper accountability.

And the last set of twos is one I’ve alluded to in the first sets, concerning a pair of toxic side-servers that ran adjacent to the main Nevermore Discord. Completely unofficial cliques. And invisible to myself and Flynn and our mod team. We were eventually made aware that both of them were breaking laws and Discord ToS in ways that leaked into our server and affected our members negatively. As such, both groups were mass-banned. And the cliques are the ones running a majority of the discourse you’ve been seeing here, because while they are formally banned from the discord, we have absolutely no say in their participation on Tumblr. Now, keep in mind. Both of these groups were uncovered after crimson was banned the first time. That’s important later.

Clique #1

My understanding of the first group is that it started as a gaming server for people who met one another through the Nevermore Discord. I don’t know when or why it started being used to talk shit about other readers, but I do know that it got really vicious. And it was sort of an open secret for long before I knew anything about it. I found out after that there were a lot of people passively in this server, just observing. It was that much of a spectacle.

Now, this clique had been pretty rude. Like they’d try to start fights with me in the discord fairly often, both in the Patreon and free spaces. But it wasn’t grounds for dismissal until we found out about the baiting and the alts.  These people had a lot of grievances, but one really united them: they were extremely upset about anyone who would ship Prospero.

But because of this and what a common occurrence it was, we started being able to pick out the alts. And we realized that this group of people had been using the same alt accounts with different names to antagonize certain readers they’d decided they hated, and it had gone on for a long time.

I did a lot of investigative work in dms trying to figure out who all was responsible for the harassment, and settled on a list that was vetted by three different people who knew about the clique. And all three of these people insisted that, while Laci was in the group and in a lot of the screencaps saying pretty dubious things, that she was good people. So I believe them, and let Laci stay. This group was banned on April 3, 2024, and contained the following users:

-          lilnatx (nat)

-          suitino (sushi)

-          jj_the_jet_plane (layden)

-          rivsticks (jasper)

-          atheimee (athena)

-          jinxs.com (lanx/jinx)

-          smartestginger (nico)

-          thereallandofbugs (bugs)

-          rosienemui (rosie)

These were the names they were known by on the Discord. I don’t have the Tumblr accounts tied to these identities. But some might be the same. I know a lot of them are here.  It should be noted that jinx was later unbanned due to pressure from Laci that they had been banned in error, after the fact. We allowed them back in after a few days as a favor to Laci since the situation seemed like it was very stressful for her. This would prove to be yet another a mistake since, as you have probably seen in the screenshots from the night before last, jinx rapidly escalated things to another level while I was trying to figure out how to handle crimson’s unbanning and subsequent rebanning an hour later.

Clique #2

Phew. Still with me? Great. The second group we needed to ban was one that actually started long before the first one, but was a lot smaller and comparatively more subtle. This group, to my knowledge, cropped up around the time that ep. 39 of Nevermore was released. (11/10/22) We knew about this group but not who all was involved in it or in what capacity for a very long time. They would consistently post things on Tumblr trying to start a scandal. I recall posts alleging that we were racists, or SA apologists, or that we were sending death threats to a random confessions account.

To be clear, these allegations are completely false. This clique will say anything. Like a recent post one of them put up during this discourse said that hiwi (our mod) is both a r*pe apologist and a childhood friend of mine and that’s the only reason she hasn’t been banned. Hiwi is absolutely nothing of the sort, and I have never met her in person. In fact, she lives on the other side of the continent.

Now, this clique is a little different than the first. The first, to my knowledge, was a group of friends that got toxic and felt morally superior about their opinions and it all kind of got away from them. The vibe was a little catty, I guess. Gossipy. But this clique has more of a stalker vibe. It’s dark.

They’ve had it out specifically for me for as long as I can remember. And some of them (at least one, at all times) would subscribe to our patreon, both to sow dissent in our stream chats and also to leak literally all the content back to the others, including me talking about random shit like what I ate for lunch. Just so they could like. Laugh about it, I guess. I’ll never understand why. [Editing note: because in the final moments of proofreading this post I see one of these people has made some master post about what a terrible person I am? A lot of those screenshots are from Patreon channels and the guy STILL has them laying around. I’m telling you, they stole everything that wasn’t nailed down.] 

The biggest grievance this clique had is that any ship with Montresor is an “SA fetish ship” because to them he is a r*pist because of how he made Ada bark (?) and since Montrada is canon, that means we are supporters of SA, and that Morella and Ada should be together instead. Listen, I’ll level with you, this one baffles me. I don’t even know how to begin to untangle it. But if you see a lot of vitriol about us being SA apologists from these users, it’s because Montresor exists. That’s pretty much it.

You can ask them for screencaps ‘til you’re blue in the face, but unless they build fake ones from the ground up, they’re never going to be able to back up their wild claims. Simply put, they’re provocateurs, and they use the scariest words they can to whip people up into a panic.

We became aware that they were leaking patreon content when one of them was caught publicly referring to things that were being said behind a paywall when we knew they weren’t a patron. It unraveled from there.  People who knew about their antics shared screenshots and information with us, and we finally realized the scope of the clique’s hatred and banned whoever was even left in the Nevermore Discord. But they continue to be active in the community on tumblr. You’ll have seen them around. They were banned on 5/11/2024 and the names involved are as follows (again, a mishmash of discord names, nicknames, and tumblr accounts):

Again I’d like to reiterate. The point in sharing these names is not to incite any sort of response against these people. But they are folding themselves into the fray and doing what they can to whip everyone else up into a mob, and all as we’re talking about a discord server that they have been banned from for months now. The above context is also relevant for the next section, which is why you’re all here in the first place.

What the hell happened with Crimson?

I hope it’s not confusing, but now we’re going back to 3/14/2024, before anything I just outlined above had come to light. The cliques were quietly doing their harassment and baiting and raiding and whatever-the-hell behind the scenes, but Flynn and I and the mods were blissfully unaware of how bad it was getting. We get a dm from Laci. The same Laci who was part of Clique #1 and was rescued from being banned with the others by her friends outside the group. Jinx’s friend, who managed to get them unbanned as well. You have probably seen these screencaps already, but I will show them to you again, just in case.

Sufficed to say, we were immediately alarmed by the information Laci shared in her DM with us. Now, I want to be very clear about this because it’s been lost in the game of telephone. What Laci outlines in her dm to me, were the events that occurred between six users (including crimson) in a group chat with minors. Everyone in the evidence was censored (pfp and username), as was the image that crimson showed them. When I asked, Laci agreed to give me one name of one of the minors in the dm. I’ll call them Alice, but that is not their real name. I asked if I could talk to Alice about this, I was told by Laci, no. Alice doesn’t want to talk. I was like, ok I understand, that’s fine. 

I hope it makes sense when I say that it is not feasible for us to moderate the things that happen in peoples’ dms. As you’ve seen above, the mod team doesn’t usually get involved with drama unless whatever is happening is directly affecting the experience people are having in the Nevermore Discord because that is all we can see and the only place we have any real authority.  But this was obviously a special case. We banned crimson very quickly without asking any follow-up questions, because of course we did!? I’ve seen people say I’m harboring or defending crimson or that we’re buddies but we barely spoke, ever. They were a stranger to me then, and they still are now.

But something about the entire situation wasn’t adding up to me. And I want to be clear that none of this is in any way meant to discredit csa survivors, I’m really just trying to put you in my headspace and walk you through my thought process. But I found that the evidence was just, sort of strange. Laci started her dm explaining that she found this information out because she and a group of people were investigating crimson for ‘art tracing’ which felt, to me, like a bizarre non-sequitur and totally irrelevant next to the evidence of them showing nsfw content to minors. Petty, kind of. Like I wanted to ask – why were you doing that in the first place? People trace Flynn’s art all the time. As long as they’re not selling it, it’s not a big deal.

Most of the crops are from a PC but the windows are oddly small, and only contain a couple messages at a time. Some have American formatted time and some have European formatted time. So different users, I assume? The names were blotted out, which I would understand for a public call-out but not for a private report to the mod team. Laci was not in this gc at any point in time, despite being the one to report. 

One of the users was apparently 12, to which I ask – what is a 12-year-old doing on discord at all? If we knew who they were, we would have reported the account. Discord is not a safe place for a child that age, let alone a small group chat. Along with 18-year-old Crimson, there was also a 22- and 17-year-old in the chat, which left us wondering – why hadn’t anything been done?

I had no evidence that anyone ever told crimson they were minors, and I feel if it existed, it would have been in the screencap dump (I find that sometimes a noticeable lack of key evidence is evidence in itself). No one seems to have tried to kick crimson from the group chat or report their account for inappropriate behavior. Then there’s the fact that this is a group chat. Anyone in it can leave at any time. 

Then I came across the messages that started this whole gc, and it only got stranger when I realized Alice started it, called it “Women Lovers” and created it “so we can talk about Nevermore women without having to filter ourselves” after they all reacted to a sultry but sfw drawing of Lenore that crimson had made and posted in our hideout channel. And all that made me wonder why Alice didn’t just kick crimson, if she had admin power?  Do you see what I mean? It’s just all a bit head tilty. I noticed it at the time. But I said nothing. Because it didn’t matter. Crimson, no matter what happened, exposed minors to nsfw content. And that’s on them. And I’ve never in my life defended it. We banned them.

Crimson was beside herself. She came off humiliated and apologetic, and insisted she had no idea and begged to come back to a community she said she loved. But we told her no, there’s no coming back from doing what she did.

Time passes and we uncover Clique #1. And while we figured out who the main players were, I dmed with Laci. And it was Laci herself, who tells me that it was Alice who made most of Clique #1’s alt accounts, and that it was Alice who used those alt accounts to harass people and try to get them to start fights or say something that might get them in trouble. 

And I’ll be honest with you, the mod team still didn’t think much of it, outside of – we need to figure out which accounts were the alts. So we did. We had several confirmed to us.  And those accounts were zeroing in on certain users that the clique didn’t like. At the time we noticed two notable targets in addition to the mod team. I won’t name them, it’s their business if they want to weigh in about all that. But in screencaps, they’ll be labeled Target #1 and Target #2.

More time passes and Clique #2 comes to light. As you can imagine, by now we’re feeling disillusioned, and very tired of trying to moderate shit we cannot see for ourselves. And that’s when crimson comes back to very hesitantly ask if they might be able to appeal their ban. It wasn’t until then that it occurred to us that Laci (on behalf of Alice) was the only one who ever reported anything to us about Crimson. 

And I want to just say that again. Because it’s gotten lost too. Laci was the only person who ever reported Crimson. There was not one single other person who ever sent a modmail or a dm or even a ping to anybody on the mod team. I have since (only yesterday) seen some screencaps that are rather skin crawly, but even those happened in yet another side server. Thinking on this, the mods went back through the known alt accounts Alice had used. And they found that Alice harassed crimson both on her main account and on the same alt accounts that she used to harass the other targets.

By now, Alice is banned for completely unrelated reasons. Not because of what happened with Crimson. I’ve seen that one flying around and I’m sorry it’s just not true. It’s because she was relentlessly harassing and cyberbullying people in the discord we moderate. Laci is still there, but had lost my trust, for being involved with both the drama I’ve mentioned here and more that I don’t care to dip into. It’s ultimately irrelevant. But what am I going to say to Laci? “Hey, did you and Alice, by any chance, coordinate some kind of bizarre trap together to get crimson banned from the discord because you suspected them of tracing their art?” And once again. Because I want to keep this top of mind. Even if that were the case, it doesn’t make what Crimson did alright, and it never will. Sharing nsfw content in front of minors is a disgusting thing to do. And one that we frankly are really irritating about in the moderation of the discord. I’ve heard people say that we over-moderate when it comes to art. 

But all this stuff about a “known pedophile?” If it was known, then we were on the outs. And to even this minute right now, I don’t have any conclusive evidence that Crimson is a pedophile. The evidence I have is that Crimson shared nsfw with a group of people whose ages they did not know. Which is fucking gross. It’s an adult’s responsibility to make sure they’re speaking with other adults before posting things of that nature. 

But at the time, the way I read the situation is that Crimson had only just stopped being a minor and was egregiously negligent in how they were speaking and what they were posting, likely in part due to them not being aware enough of their adult responsibilities.  And hey. I know some of you are chomping at the bit. You can call me naïve for this! This is what I’m referring to when I say that I can be a real idiot. But I feel everyone has been very quick to call Crimson a pedophile. I know this is pedantic to say, but the prerequisite for being a pedophile is “being attracted to minors.” Based on the information I had at my fingertips, I did not think Crimson sought out these minors. Crimson was invited to the gc, they did not ask to join. 

I have seen discussions about all the things crimson did to their victims since we unbanned them but I have not seen screencaps to support that whole ‘marriage proposal’ thing, and again I think it sounds a bit odd coming as a pedophilia accusation from someone only one year younger than crimson.  

But you know what? I don’t know crimson. Maybe we were wrong. But even if we weren’t, I realize in hindsight that it was a stupid decision for the mod team to give them a second chance. We didn’t have anyone to consult about what happened because all the other people in the chat had been obscured from me and I didn’t feel like Laci would give me a straight answer. 

The mods and I felt at the time that crimson, like the other targets of Clique #1, had been singled out and that they deserved another very closely monitored chance in the discord, which they said they still missed dearly. I’m a bleeding heart, alright? A total sap. I know that. But being honest with you, I felt bad. It feels horrible to be singled out and targeted. And I was probably too close to that feeling at the time, seeing as we were on the tail end of finding out the Clique #2 had pursued me so relentlessly for so long. 

So for my part, I’m sorry. I made a rash decision that was influenced by some very personal circumstances. And we should have left it alone. Based on the evidence I've seen, I don’t know if I personally would call crimson a pedophile and certainly I wouldn't call them a known pedophile, but I am regretful that we risked it either way.

When I was trying to explain all of this in the west common room channel two nights back, things had boiled over and were already getting out of hand very quickly. A lot of brand new accounts were joining the discord with one word intros just to start conflicts in the public server with crimson. Alts. Either from banned users or burner accounts. And I got panicky. One of the mods paused the messages in west common room but no one besides me was available to handle the situation at that moment. Reacts about being silenced were pouring in and I felt pressured to quickly take over and try to explain. 

In my rush, I stupidly didn’t backread more than a quick skim. And I ate shit, y’all. You saw. One thing I want to state outright. I’m talking a lot about my thoughts and my feelings and it’s because I don’t wanna speak for Flynn or for the mods. But I didn’t make this decision alone. In fact, I was dragging my feet and being really lazy about okaying the whole thing. Just because I was busy, not because I was fretting over it or anything. But I had to be pinged and then literally tapped on the shoulder by Flynn, asking me to respond to mod chat when this was being discussed earlier that day. That doesn’t change the fact that I was part of the decision. I agreed to unban crimson. Foolishly. I understand that, now. 

I hope that now it makes some more sense though, how it came to happen. I never meant to hurt anyone. My own past and present feelings got in the way, and I own that. But in the moment, my personal intention was to give crimson a second chance because I felt that they’d been targeted by Clique #1. Not to ignore anyone’s concerns or make them feel unsafe, even if those were the ultimate outcome.  

So, completely underprepared and defensive, I jumped into west common room and I just. Blew it. Totally fucking blew it. I knew it instantly but it’s hard to stay logical when people are telling you you’re vile and evil and they’re sick that they ever thought you were a good person and that they’ll never see you the same way again. My mind went blank and I don’t really remember much of what happened next. But I said what I said, and I should have done better. 

I wish there was a word bigger than sorry. I’m beside myself. I know there was probably a way to make everyone happy. To make everything okay. But I wasn't clever enough to figure it out in the moment, and it eats at me. So it’s like I’m sorry for my poor judgment and my terrible choice of words, but there’s another layer where I’m also sorry for not matching how wonderful this community is with how wonderful (or well, unwonderful) I was two nights ago. I promise I am going to work harder to be better for you all.

Again, to every victim of SA and CSA, my heart is with you, more personally than you might realize. I don’t think I could have handled my explanation in a worse way. And I’m so so sorry.

Moving forward, I am also going to take an enormous step back from moderating and participating in the discord in general. I feel like a lot of this happened because I was still treating it like it belonged to a smaller fandom, like Shiloh’s. But realistically, I don’t have time to both moderate and make the series itself, and I really dragged my feet on being honest with myself about that. And for that too, I apologize. We’re going to get more mods, they’re going to have full control of the moderation, and Flynn and I are going to do what we love more than anything in the world and just make Nevermore.

I understand if you won’t be there for it. This is not a flattering picture I’ve painted for you. And you’d be well within your rights, to decide not to give us another chance. Names and date being the exact same can be a perfect coincidence, I'd argue. And even if it is reliable, Red's approach entirely was beyond agreeability.

For one, she started out as an aggressor

she then proceeded to progressively get worse as the conversation went on

The fellow was under obvious stress and Red seemed to press further onto that, such as using phrases as "do you think I'm stupid," "should i pardon your attitude," "Im not the drool-on-yourself stupid," "why do you think you're in control of this situation"

Red disregarded any attempt to try and appeal this accusation

And even if Red was indeed trying to give this fellow a chance, I can't see it.

I am sorry, but even with this context, it only makes it look so much worse, and it is. Flynn, you admit that all the proof any of you had was correlating dates, and even in this conversation where you could have possibly gotten some valid, solid proof, you didn't. It was unjust, in my eyes. And the way it was went about makes it so, so much worse.

Also, whether or not being removed from this situation, I can't imagine feeling any different with a more insider's pov. Especially when you, a close association with Red, can only "think," surmise, what Red was attempting.

This is no accusation, but I feel that you don't quite see, or even care, how Red goes about these things.

All I have to say, Red, is personally I find the more I learn of you, the more I grow a certain distaste of you. I really wish i had a semblance of hope that really, truly wasn't you. But hells, with how much I've seen from you...

A little warning for cartoonish violence and spoilers

I've been dwelling on which one to scrap and which to dedicate to for something I'm writing, and so far the deer chimera of Marcille has been tossed. I'm real keen on the Goat one since I think Marcille's dungeon lord fit looks like a lamb and I like how a goat plays into it. But for story purposes, I'm going with the pheonix chimera, but I'd like to grow upon these ideas respectively anyway

Anyway, I really like the idea of how goats paw on the ground with their hoofs in irritation as a sort of flint spark for Marcille. Spark a flame at the wrong time and kaboom, though it probably won't be due to her own intention likely(though her breath may be flammable, MAYBE, it would hardly be enough anyhow(Unless in specific circumstances). I've also been thinking about how she can use the horns on her head. So, besides headbutting against Kabru behind her when she gets wambam backstabbed, she can just grab people or use the other parts of her body to inflict major damage. I hadn't illustrated it, but I definitely think she can be devastating with a back leg kick, though I've never actually seen a goat do that.

I TOOK VERY LONG TO ANSWER THIS CAUSE I NEEDED TO COOK SOME STUFF Okay Mermaid au but it’s Marcille chimera au where the last level was the water level and instead of a dragon it’s a big leviathan that they turn into delicious smoked fish AND THEN MARCILLE BECOMES BIG FISH GOD FARCILLE HAS MY BRAIN DOING BACKFLIPS-

I've drawn Marcille with the idea of her being a deer/elk as a chimera, that's also based off of her dungeon lord outfit, but then a goat appealed to me and it makes a LOT more sense. An animal often sacrificed, but could also be the one who is sacrificed to. In a way Marcille used herself as a goat reviving Falin, and yada yada-- I think this is going somewhere. Mithrun would go apeshit, no doubt. But I love doomed yuri, love it a bunch, so a pheonix is such an interesting choice because I already have a sad little intricate plot in my head with it in mind

Ok, i had the thought (since i love werewolves and vampire stuff, liches, all that-- I blame Skyrim and its unhealthy amount of beautiful mods-- and Dungeon Meshi just seems so perfect about it with its races and stuff) what if Marcille's a dhampir, basically a human vampire crossbreed, who seeks to become fully vampiric in order to be able to sire in lieu of the dungeon lord/universal longevity plot. (Spoilers: she still doesn't get it in the end lmao) Falin is a longtime friend of hers through a backstory I still haven't made up yet, and Marcille's introduced as a new addition to the main cast, who are a party of hikers (or for some sort of venturing activity). Month in, Falin's gone and had herself eaten by some weird dog described in only folklore, which Laios would later excitedly incite as a "lycanthrope". (They tried to call emergencies for a missing person, but they came up with nothing. Everyone thinks Laios is going insane when he concludes that the sight they saw after Falin became officially missing, blood trails and offly wolfish tracks fading off to somewhere, was the work of a wolfman, or a werewolf, and suggested going to search for Falin themselves. Namari and Toshiro leave promptly) Chillchuck and Marcille stay with him, one determined with his navigational skills and the other fully believing in this supernatural theory. They decide it's best they start camping in the forest, deeper and closer to the wilderness, prompting them the idea: hunt for their share. Which may or may not be illegal :shrug They meet Senshi, one hell of a wildchef man. (Marcille's total disgust with the idea of eating out in the wild stems from the fact she doesn't want to survive off of squirrels again. But this food is pretty good, and she's eating other animals than small rodents this time. Chillchuck just doesn't want to hear about the weird ass facts about how skinwalkers might be related to humans and their horrific hunting tendencies while eating.) The deeper they go, the more strange and bizarre this forest becomes. First normal, unassuming, then the ravens start speaking and the rabbits have horns. And if you peer into it close enough, your eyes might just find company in where the campfire doesn't reach. So on and so on, they find Falin's bones in the corpse of the creature, and suddenly there's a little guy with white hair and crazed, purple eyes(thistle), who beats them all off with a stick(not actually lmao). Last they see is Falin's remains being reanimated with the dripping blood of the stranger. (Marcille had tried in desperate attempt to revive Falin with her own blood/bite, but to no avail, revealing herself in the process. The only thing she can note is the awful taste of something doglike, aka the lycanthrope disease circulating in Falin's bones-- since they were chomped before she died RIP.) Now they're against a highly aggressive abomination under the servitude of someone out to get them. And the opps are on them(canaries) Now I'm just thinking abt whether or not to make Marcille also a werepyre? Considering it would make sense for her to also get her human-half infected into something "full-fledged" in the way she hadn't intended, and still come up without the ability to sire(she wants to make a cauldron for company, a cauldron being like a vampire made family, due to the same motives of keeping her loved ones).
