WE NEED MORE DEAF AND HOH REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA!!!! as a person who is hoh (almost totally on my left ear, like 50% on my right ear) and uses hearing aids in everyday life, i like NEVER see any characters in tv shows who are deaf/hoh!!!!!!! IT MAKES ME SO MAD AAAAAA because like, it kinda feels like tv and stuff only remembers we exist when it's convenient or they need a character trait to give to someone with no personality, and even that basically never happens. name one deaf or hoh character. yeah.

You're limiting who can view your posts.

Plain text is needed for:

1. Those who are affected by eyestrain and are visually impaired. Colored text, fancy fonts, they all make these harder for people to read,

and

2. Those who use screenreaders. Fancy symbols, especially ones from other languages, and tyoing quirks fuck screenreaders up. They can change the language, start spouting weird nonsense, or just flat out break.

There are also people who straight up get overwhelmed by all of this without being affected by these problems. Me, for example, I can read all typing quirks just fine but it's still very overwhelming.

Also, big text? There are people who already have their text on their phone set to big because they can't read, and they need plain text for big text.

If you can't provide plain text, you could always

A. ask plaintextpro (or another accessibility blog) for help

B. not format your text at all

URGENT!! Help me survive before and after a kidney transplant

Hi. I’m Jay, and I’m a black, disabled non-binary lesbian and my best friend, who is my caregiver, is a white Latina woman.

On May 28, I go in for a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney disease and being on dialysis wouldn’t sustain me anymore. I currently have bed sores due to being completely bedbound from an infection. My whole care team is saying I need a hospital bed with a medical grade mattress that relieves pressure sores. The thing is we don’t exactly have $4.5k laying around and we need it fairly quickly as my bed sores are worsening by the day and they are worried about infection of the sores and then sepsis (a blood infection that you can die from).

So this mattress will quite literally save my life

My best friend is selling merchandise of her cat and this is the quickest way for us to make the money as Paypal limited both our accounts for asking for donations.
