When Roy Harper meets red hair Jason Todd?!? đ«Łđł
youâre in his HOUSE
Bruce is so important to me
Jason: *putting on a coat at six in the morning* dick: whoa, wait, youâre never up this early. What are you doing??? Jason: *non-chalantly* Iâm going to adopt a child dick: Jason: *walks out the door* dick: *knocks over like fifteen things in order to follow his brother* JASON. WAIT UP. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. Jason: *heading to his car* Iâve decided to adopt a child, Dickie, get with the program. Dick: WHY??? Jason: *sighs* because I had a dream in which I adopted a kid but then I woke up and it wasnât real and I felt very sad and guilty for abandoning my kid Dick: Dick: you had a dreamâ Jason: that I adopted a kid, yeah Dick: and youâre currently mourning your . . . Imaginary child Jason: kind of, yeah Dick: Dick: *tearing up* Iâll call B and get together the necessary paperwork. Meet you at the adoption agency in thirty?

I think Roy Harper is the personification of all those âmy unemployed friend on a Tuesdayâ memes. Even if he was employed. Like youâd walk into his home and itâs just full of Contraptions. He just does Things and the purpose is unintelligible
Jason is like this too but in a less noticeable way. Roy is like âI welded a toaster oven to my assault rifle to see if it would do anything when I zapped it with a taserâ and Jason is like âI read four textbooks and wrote an academic paper about the Mesopotamian grain economyâ
âwhat did you guys do todayâ
âwe liberated a country and then I built a motorized couch thatâs technically street legal and then Jason blew up the road couchâ
Damian grew up listening to Jason telling stories of his time with Bruce, and being the competitive little shit that he is decides he has to one up the guy once he gets to Gotham. this leads to him waiting until the perfect opportunity and proceeding to steal the tires off not just the batmobile, but all the vehicles in the cave. he pulls it off perfectly and heâs incredibly proud of it UP UNTIL Dick and Tim start panicking that Jason Toddâs vengeful ghost is clearly haunting the cave and is clearly agitated at Damian being the new Robin- after all, he only started fucking with things after Damian took the mantle, so he must have disapproved, right?
after two weeks he has to call Jason, scuffing his feet on the ground and gritting his teeth as he explains the situation.
ââŠ.what.â
directing his glare to the ceiling, Damian stubbornly repeats, âGrayson and Drake will no longer let me in the cave. they believe that your ghost is angry with me and are afraid you will become agitated by my presence there.â
ââŠâ he waited impatiently for Jasonâs response. âwell how the fuck did you manage that?â
âyour brothers are imbeciles.â
âfirst of all iâve not even seen Tim since he got taken in, i met him like once when i was thirteen at a gala when we took turns trying to throw olives into an old ladyâs handbag from the balcony above, he is more your brother than mine,â Damian rolled his eyes, tapping his foot and peeking out from behind the curtain he was hiding behind to call from, ensuring Alfred wasnât nearby. âsecond of all why the fuck would they immediately assume i want you gone? didnât they wonder why i didnât start haunting the cave when the replacement took my mantle?â
âyouâre acting like there should be logic behind any of this. i stole some tires and now they think your spirit wants me dead.â
âjust tell them you took the tires.â
âbut then iâd be caught and my mission would be a technical failure.â
âsucks to suck.â
Jason was not much help.
he was even less help when he came to Gotham and, in between establishing himself as an anonymous crime lord in Crime Alley, starts fucking breaking into the batcave to move shit about and leave threatening messages claiming that âthe ghost of Robin is displeased with Damianâ
Damian is this fucking close to just revealing Red Hoodâs identity. on the plus side Tim is having the ego boost of his life learning that his successorâs ghost was ok with his Robin but not Damianâs. heâs been on a permanent high for the past month and itâs not going down any time soon.
Bruce is just sick of Dick sobbing through seance attempts while heâs trying to work at the batcomputer.
I hope no one has done this meme with jayroy befoređŸ
More batman au where all the batkids are really young
Since we all agree that people of the Alley of Crime adore Red Hood and believe in him, I think it is time to imagine Jason in a scene similar to the one from OG Spiderman, where his identity is accidentally outted in front of crowd of people, and they all are just choose to protect him and help him out.
So maybe Gotham is facing especially nasty trouble, and vigilantes are on the receiving end this time. So maybe Jason is thrown at the dirty Alley in his part of town, wounded, with helmet flying off, and there is just a crowd of people staring as bleeds out, astonished. And Jason thinks, oh, that's the end â he can go and shoot himself, honestly, because he just failed the man rule every vigilante have: never show your face, never reveal your identity.
But people are... helping him? His eyes are half-open, breath laboured and pained, but all he hears is gentle murmuring:
'God, he is just a kid...'
'He must be younger than my son.'
'Poor child...'
He feels soft elderly hand against his cheek as someone from the crowd, an ex nurse, comes closer to bandage his injuries, while a kid, barely with the size of his helmet, brings it back, sticking out their tongue as they try to place it back on his head, to hide his face.
'It is okay,' the old woman reassures him. 'You are safe with us, son. We hadn't seen anything.'
Jason's eyes sting, because, oh.
It is his people. He loves them. He will die for them.
And they love him just as much.
He still waits for someone to out him, though. But the week ends, the villain is out of the picture, and no one says a thing. The only proof that it ever happened is civilians, who keep waving at Jason â not Red Hood, just Jason â when their paths cross somewhere in the shops or streets.
And that's how he knows that it is them; it is them, and they keep him safe as much as he keeps safe them.
