Josh and Summer’s First Date❤️ Josh usually wasn’t the type to get involved with all that romance stuff. In fact until recently he didn’t want anything to do with it and couldn’t understand why so many people liked it so much. Well that was before he met Summer. Before the day she stepped into his life Josh had it easy. All he needed to be happy was his books and his ipod. His friends thought he was babyish but then again so did everyone. Josh was seriously behind in the developing department. He was small, baby faced and squeaky voiced.

He was still like that the moment Summer stepped into the room of the classroom that first day of school. Josh sat at a desk with his best mate Ronan still waiting for Zeke to show up. Suddenly Summer walked in looking stunning as usual and Josh realised he couldn’t pull his eyes away from her. In fact he was practically drooling all over the desk! What was going on? “Looks like you finally got the love bug man,” grinned Ronan as he punched Josh’s shoulder. “Shut up!” He snapped. However Ronan was right. Now after months of trying to flirt with Summer and trying to get her attention and getting downright rejected here they were. It was early June and Josh was turning 16 at the end of the month. He had a lot on his plate balancing school work, studying and band practice and now dates. He asked Summer if she wanted to hang out with him as a friend and she had said yes! Josh wanted to give her a big surprise and boy was he! He checked his watch and grinned, time to collect Summer. He strolled over to her house and took a deep breath, his palms growing sweaty. Eventually he knocked on the door and Summer opened it and gave him a big smile looking adorable in summer wear. “Hey Josh,” she grinned. “Hey Summer you look amazing,” he smiled going red. Summer just laughed and closed the door and walked beside him. Josh tried desperately to think up something to say, usually that was no problem to him but not now. They walked in silence much to Josh’s dismay. What if she thought he didn’t like her? “I’m in a band,” he blurted out. “Awesome I love bands do you cover songs?” Asked Summer. Finally something he could talk about. “Nope we write all our own songs,” smiled Josh. Summer looked impressed which made Josh’s heart soar with delight. “Wow that’s so cool I’d like to hear a few,” grinned Summer. “Well uh we’re having this live show thing when we release the song pack thing,” gabbled Josh as Summer stared into his eyes and making him unable to speak right. “Song pack thing?” Laughed Summer. Josh cringed. Had he really said that? She thought he was such a doofus obviously after that one. “I mean album but uh you could maybe come along to the um show if you wanted to or not if you don’t wanna like but it’d be so cool cos we’re friends and stuff,” gabbled Josh. Why was he rambling? “Sure it’ll be fun,” smiled Summer. When Josh asked to hang out with me as friends, I really thought he meant it but as I walked along with him now I wasn’t so sure. Josh was one of the most talkative boys she had ever met but now he could barely get 2 words out! The only problem was she just didn’t like Josh as anything more than a friend! She thought he was adorable and funny and sweet but she just wasn’t ready for a relationship just now. She was getting over her boyfriend who broke up with her because he’d met someone else after she moved away. Even now that she thought about it she felt like crying! Suddenly Josh came to a stop and gave her a big grin. “Guess where we are?” Grinned Josh. Summer could hear waves nearby and she gave a gasp! They were at the beach! Aw how sweet! Josh knew how much she missed the beach and he had taken her there! She squealed and hugged him in delight. “Thank you so much!” She grinned. Josh could have exploded with happiness when Summer hugged him! “Come on let’s go!” She laughed and grabbed his hand. She was holding his hand! They ran along onto the sand and into the sea after Josh threw his socks and converse on the sand. The sea was freezing but Josh didn’t care. Summer was ecstatic and so was he. He gave a wicked grin then splashed Summer and she screamed and splashed him back. Suddenly Summer was right beside him and pushed him over! He got back up spluttering and soaked while Summer laughed. “My hair is wrecked!” He groaned and glared at Summer who ran away. He chased her and soon enough caught up with her and pushed her in too. Josh laughed in delight and she got up and laughed too. “My Mum is gonna kill me!” She smiled. “Mine too!” Grinned Josh. When they got out of the water they lat on the sand drying themselves before Summer spotted a Bucket and spade lying nearby. “Let’s make a sandcastle,” she suggested. She felt like a kid again and she just wanted to cherish this moment forever. “Ok but it better be awesome,” grinned Josh. Even Josh had seemed to be more like himself again which was fantastic. She filled the bucket up with sand with Josh’s help and they started making loads of sandcastles. They both stood up admiring the castles and smiling at each other. Suddenly she felt a push on her back and she fell face first onto a sandcastle! Josh! He laughed and stuck his tongue out at her. “If I go down then so do you!” She smirked and grabbed his ankle and pulled him down on top of her! “Agh!” He yelled as he landed right on top of her. “Not my best idea,” winced Summer. They both stared into each other’s eyes and Summer couldn’t help it, her heart started beating faster. They stayed like that for ages before some old lady walked past. “For goodness sake there are children on this beach!” She grumbled and glared at them. They stared at each other before Summer pushed Josh off and they both burst out laughing. They ended the perfect day with a picnic that Josh bought from a nearby shop. They tucked into lemonade, crisps, rolls and chocolate and strawberries. Josh couldn’t help but keep giving secret glances at Summer, she was just so beautiful. “So what’s the name of this band of yours and who’s in it?” Asked Summer. “It’s called Careless Reaction and my mates Ronan, Caolan and Zeke are in it,” explained Josh. “Nice name what do you all play?” She asked. “Ronan’s the bassist, Caolan’s the guitarist and Zeke’s the drummer and I’m the singer,” continued Josh. “I never knew you could sing!” Gasped Summer. “Neither did I!” Laughed Josh. Summer gave him a cute smile and Josh grinned back going red. This really was a great day. Summer just thought Josh was the sweetest boy ever. He brought her to the beach and bought them a picnic! She really did like him and maybe she was falling for him. However every time she thought about dates her ex came into her mind. “It must have been hard moving so far away,” sighed Josh. “Yeah I left a lot of people behind but I like it here,” she shrugged. “Caolan had the same problem but now he’s happy thanks to Zeke mainly,” smiled Josh. He was being so sweet again! She couldn’t torture him like this. He had a crush on her and she was starting to crush on him too but she just wasn’t ready. “Josh I left my ex behind and I thought we could make long distance work but then he met another girl,” she sniffed tears dripping down her face. Josh rapidly was right beside her and out his arm around her. Oh god why did he have to be so sweet? “It’s ok he was a loser for doing that and totally bonkers,” assured Josh. “I know but I’m still not over him and I’m not ready for a relationship right now Josh,”she blurted out. Josh looked crushed after she said that and it made her feel horrible. “Look I really do like you a lot but,” she began. “Just as a friend right?” Asked Josh looking totally deflated. “No! I swear it’s only because I’m not over my ex,” she insisted with tears in her eyes. Josh just shook his head and gave her the saddest eyes ever. Her heart was breaking. “Why did I have to go and fall in love with a girl that doesn’t even want me? Love is rubbish!” Snapped Josh and he held his head in his hands. Oh no. She was his first crush! Suddenly a thought came to her. Boys had liked her before and she had let them know she didn’t want a relationship but she didn’t feel the way she did now. Right now she felt like her heart was breaking and she was nearly crying! It was almost like he had broken up with her! That meant that she really did want to be with him! Maybe they could make this work. Josh felt horrible. His heart was breaking and he was crying in front of Summer! It wasn’t fair! Why did the one girl that he liked not like him back? Suddenly Summer tapped his arm. He refused to look at her. “Look Josh I’m so sorry but maybe we can make this work and i well I think I’m falling in love with you,” explained Summer. What? She was falling in love with him? He looked up and rubbed his eyes. She smiled and hugged him. He hugged her back and just about held the tears back. “We’ll have to take it slow,” she smiled. “I don’t care as long as we can be together,” he smiled. She smiled and grabbed his hand. She leant over and gently kissed his cheek. His heart soared and he smiled back at her as they got up still holding hands and walked off the beach together laughing and chatting.
