Gifts

One day, Sven decided to get his comrades and himself some mugs with quotes on them. If at first it was slightly awkward, now they are seen with them on a daily basis. And for some of them, they even became their favorite mug.

Both of the boys have accessories they love from the bottom of their heart: for Kellyn, it's a bracelet, while for Keith, it's a shawl. Both of these items are gifts they offered to each other quite a long time ago.

For Kellyn, the bracelet Keith offered him became his lucky charm. He kisses it when he feels anxious or is about to start a dangerous mission. This "ritual" allows him to steel himself and gather the necessary strength to move forward. Just like when Keith encourages him and tells him that he believes in him.

Keith him, consider the shawl Kellyn made him as one of his sources of comfort. Each time he feels like his guilt, sorrow, and negative feelings are about to overwhelm him, he wraps himself in it. Most of the time, the warmth coming from the fabric apease him greatly. A warmth wich is very similar to Kellyn's when he gives him affection.

When embarrassed

Kellyn: hides his face with his hands. Or in Keith's neck.

Keith: Turns his head to the side and avoids eye contact.

Rhythmi: Pouts like a child.

Kate: Keeps her head down and fiddle with her hair.

Purr and growl

Kellyn can purr. That's something that surprised everyone at the Union when they heard it for the first time. A low and soft purr, coming from the deepest part of his throat...How adorable!

But, hearing it is quite miraculous since he only purrs when he's feeling safe and warm. Aka, when there's only his close persons in the room.

Or because his boyfriend is cradling him in his arms.

Speaking of Keith, he also surprised the staff of the Union, but not quite for the same reasons as his partner. Unlike him, he doesn't purr; he growls.

Yup. Keith growls. And he traumatized quite the number of people with this ability of his. But, who can blame them? Such a low and deep sound is quite terrifying, especially when combined with his blazing glare, which makes him look like an Arcanine.

....Frankly, if they think that way, that's because they only heard the possessive and/or warning growl. Which he reserves for strangers and jerks of all kinds.

However, he can also growl out of happiness and love. Something that is reserved for Kellyn and nobody else.

Stress Cooking

As he grows older, Kellyn starts to develop Stress Cooking. What is it, you say? It's quite simple: when Kellyn begins to get stressed for whatever reason, he tends to cook.

He doesn't know why, but cooking helps him calm down. Maybe because it makes him focus on something other than his anxiety and stress...? Probably.

Anyway, when he's in Stress Cooking Mode, he makes quite a lot of food. May it be stews ( Cream Stew being his specialty), pasta, croquettes....He cooks a lot. So much that inevitably, he ends up with too much food for him to eat on his own.

What happens in those cases? He gives some of it to his close persons, of course! Said persons who'll never say no to fresh meals cooked with love. Especially not Keith.

...However, he knows. He knows why Kellyn has so much food on his hand that he has to give some to other people. On the one hand, it saddens him. But, on the other hand, it reassures him because it's a healthy way for him to cope with his stress.

So, when it happens, Keith invites him over to his room, and they spend the night together. They usually play games and chat while eating the food that Kellyn cooked. It's sweet, soft, and lovely...Just like a date!

Unlike what others may think, Keith wasn't left unscathed from the Yellow Gem Mission. It's true that he likes to tell that he got over it, and only his pride got wounded, but....That's just a lie. A beautiful lie.

The simple mention of "Hippodown Temple" makes him lose his cool. And when he doesn't have a choice and needs to actually go there...He panics. He starts hyperventilating, his mind becomes a blurry mess, his heart pounds so loudly like it's about to explode...Add to that the painful memories of being kidnapped, manhandled, used as a bartering system that made the mission fail....And you get a huge panic attack in return.

When that happens, he doesn't respond to the world around him anymore and becomes somewhat violent if someone gets a little too close. Only a few people can try to calm him down without risking getting punched, but...Making him snap out of it is pretty difficult.

...Most of the time, he ends up crying himself to sleep or passing out because his brain can't cope with the trauma and guilt. And in those cases...Kellyn is the one taking care of him. Kellyn, whose mind is overflowing with rage and protectiveness. Kellyn, whose aura is different from the warm and shy one usually emanating from him.

Kellyn, who is about to let his Berserker side, take the matter into his own hands.

Sven and Keith: *chatting*

Keith: Welp, I'll be going now. I'm gonna go back to Kell's bedside.

Sven: Alrighty. But, be sure to take breaks and not overwhelm yourself again, Sunshine Boy.

Keith: I know, I know...But thanks anyway, Dad.

Sven:...

Keith:....*slowly realizing before becoming peony red* A-A-Ah!!! S-Sorry! Please forget that I have ever said that!!! *immediately runs away*

Sven:....Welp. I have a son now. *victorious grin* That's one child for me, Sky Queen!

Wendy: *poking her head out the door frame, her eyes glaring at Sven* Don't get cocky cowboy. I won't let you have Kellyn. He's MY babybird!

Sven: Not for long!

For Keith, it may have been the day when he got himself a Dad. But for the seniors Top Rangers, it was a normal Thursday.

Cousins

Kellyn and Kate didn't have the best relationship back when they were little kids. Despite the fact that they're cousins, they pretty much hated each other.

Or rather, Kate was being a little pest while Kellyn was far too afraid to go near her. Eventually, she grew calmer and more serene over the years and started to regret what she did to her cousin.

They finally met each other again during Kellyn's 1 Day Internship, and the reunion was...Kind of awkward, as you might expect. At first, Kellyn was scared and was hiding behind Keith, who was pretty much growling at Kate. But in the end, they reconciled and started their relationship over.

While Kellyn was an Area Ranger, the 2 of them became close. Very close. To the point that everyone started to consider them as siblings rather than cousins. Especially because Kate is overprotective with Kellyn.

Something that many people appreciate because, let's be honest, this kid is far too self-sacrificial and reckless for his own good!

"Oh, for the love of Arceus, I'm not letting you go, ever again! Do you hear me?!" - Keith

Mutism

Kellyn has a selective mutism. It has, unfortunately, been a part of his life since his younger years.

Nobody really knows what triggered it, but ever since he was 3-4 years old, he's been shutting himself in silence. Because of this, he had to learn sign language in order to communicate with others.

And, as you might expect, it's not everyone who understands sign language, resulting in a very difficult childhood. Children thought he was weird, and the adults didn't like him very much either. For them, he was just a brat throwing a tantrum.

...However, everything changed when he got into Ranger School. Nobody made fun of him for his condition anymore, and he was able to make his very first friends in the person of Keith and Rhythmi. They were the ones who gave him enough self-confidence to fight back against the ones who wronged him.

When he became a Ranger and got separated from them, Kate took over. She gave him a small tablet from Altru Inc, which allows him to communicate by replacing his voice. To make it simple, he just has to write on the tablet, and the device will automatically repeat what he wrote, but out loud.

....I said his mutism was selective, didn’t I? I didn't lie. He can talk, but only to certain people. Pokemons are not included because he never stopped speaking to them. Even though he couldn't understand them at one point.

The first one, outside of his family, who heard his voice, was Keith back in Ranger School. Even though the circumstances of this event weren't really...Ideal, that allowed him to gather enough courage to speak to Rhythmi, too.

After these two, it was Kate's turn. Despite the fact that they're cousins, they didn't have the best relationship when they were children. But, they ended up fixing it, and now they look like sibling in everyone's eyes.

The last ones were Wendy and Sven. It happened at the very beginning of Operation Brighton just before the Union Raid. Kellyn never knew why, but he suddenly talked to them. Maybe he was scared that he would never see them again? Probably.

In any case, despite his condition, Kellyn has people who he trusts more than anything. And he will NEVER let them down.

Alcohol Tolerance

Kellyn very much CAN'T handle alcohol. The poor baby gets drunk with a single shot of the weakest alcohol that ever existed. Usually, when someone manages to make him drink, he sleeps or gets extremely affectionate and cuddly. Most of the time, he ends up against his boyfriend's chest and starts to purr out of euphoria.

If everyone is on the same page by saying Kellyn's cute as hell while being drunk, they're also quite busy running away from Keith's wrath.

Our favorite redhead, other than running after some idiots who made his partner drink, doesn't drink alcohol. Like at all. But unlike Kellyn, it's not because he can't handle it but rather because of his psyche. He instantly wants to throw up each time he smells alcohol, making it quite difficult when Kellyn has to use some in his cooking.

The two of them get by, somehow.

Rhythmi. Little sweet Rhythmi. She's the type of drunk who makes everyone laugh but also question her career choices. More than once, she did things she shouldn't be able to. Such has drawing the blueprints of an entire airplane or dancing the can-can while singing Russia's national anthem in german.

Want to know the worst? She doesn't make a SINGLE mistake while doing so. Nobody knows HOW she is capable of doing that, and neither does Arceus. And frankly, he doesn't want to!

...Most of the time, if Rhythmi is drunk, it's because she had the great idea of challenging her girlfriend in a drinking contest. Don't. Don't challenge Kate in a drinking contest. You're gonna lose pathetically. She's the kind of woman who can engulf a shot of absinthe without budging. Please, be reasonable.

Little spoon or big spoon?

Most of the time, Kellyn is a little spoon, but it happens quite often that he becomes the big spoon. Depends on his and Keith's mood.

Speaking of Keith, he's the big spoon 75% of the time. However, he likes being the little one once in a while.

Rhythmi is the little spoon par excellence, who, even if she wanted, can't be the big spoon. Much to Kate's amusement.

And as you expect, Kate's a big spoon. A big spoon who LOVES to tease her precious Rhythmi to no end.

There're MY child! No, they're mine!

Did you know? There's an unspoken tradition running among the older Top Rangers.

When new Top Rangers are recruited by Chairperson Erma, it's not rare that the seniors take them under their wing and make them learn the ropes. However, it happens that sometimes a senior grows quite attached to their junior and starts treating them like their own child.

...But you must know for sure that there are not many recruits to begin with, and too many seniors. Inevitably, some "fights" happen.

To remedy that, they put in place the "Adoption" system where they can fight over "custody". Tu put it simply when 2 seniors want to "adopt" the same junior, they can "fight" over their "adoption papers", and the one winning became the "official parent". And they can do that as much as they want!

Rhythmi even heard from Linda that once 2 seniors fought over a junior adoption paper behind the Ranger Union...

Don't worry, it's not serious. They won't kill each other over that!....Yet.

Anyway, as you might expect, our group has already been "adopted". Sven has Keith, while Wendy got Kellyn. To tell you a secret, Sven challenges Wendy quite regularly over Kellyn's adoption paper, even though he knows that he can't win this battle.

But, they decided to call a truce when Kate became a Top Ranger...That's why she is the only one with 2 "parents". For now.

And the ones concerned by that? They happily go along with it and even add oil to the fire sometimes.

Sven is the type of guy who likes giving nicknames and gifts to the people around him. It's his way to say that he cares about someone.

For example, he calls Keith and Kellyn Sunshine Boy and Moonlight Boy, respectively. At first, he thought of them as his little brothers, but he shifted towards them beings' sons to him. Even if Kellyn is pretty much Wendy's child at this point.

Talking about Wendy, he calls her Sky Queen and is proud to be her best friend. They're almost like siblings in a way. Especially when figthing over adoption papers.

Rhythmi and Kate also have matching nicknames like the boys. These are Topaze Girl and Cobalt Girl, and they're the precious little sisters that Sven never had.

Eden, too, has a nickname of his own. But it's most like a game between him and Sven, to be honest. Sven calls him Lion Cub, and, in turn, Eden calls him Big Squirrel.

While on the topic of Mama Hawk Rhythmi, we also have another type of "Mama" in the person of Kellyn.

As explained before, Kellyn is the 2nd weakest member of the group. The only reason why he is stronger than Rhythmi is because he's a Ranger and her an Operator. He's also wouldn't hurt a fly, except when he goes into Berserk Mode, which is really rare. The only time that happened was when Keith and Fischl got ejected from the Altru Tower, so...

Anyway, as you can see, he doesn't really fit into the Mama Hawk archetype. What is he, then? Well...A Mama Dragon.

Kellyn is the Mom Friend in the group, always here to take care of them, may it be by pampering them, preparing some snacks or meals, comforting them...That kind of things.

He also knows that he can't protect his close persons by fighting with his fists, so he shields them with his body instead. He has always been a self-sacrificial person, and after Operation Brighton, it only got worse.

Just like Rhythmi, he has been so traumatized that the only way he found to cope with the trauma was to protect and take care of others. Thankfully, once adults, the extremism calmed down, and they became "regular" Mamas Hawk/Dragon.

If you can call them regular...

In other words, if Rhythmi's the fierce Mama Hawk ready to kill for her Rangers, Kellyn's the sweet Mama Dragon taking care of his close persons and ready to die for them.

Funny how the two of them started from the same level, right?

If you ask a complete stranger who is the most dangerous person in the group, they most likely will answer with Keith and/or Kate's names.

However, if you ask a staff member of the Ranger Union, they will, without hesitation, answer with Rhythmi's name.

Let's start with some explanations: first of all, Rhythmi's is not strong physically. She's the weakest of the group. Hell, even Kellyn is stronger than her!

Then, "why?" you wonder? That's simple: she's a Mama Hawk.

Yes, she's may not be strong like Keith or Kate, but boy, oh boy, she's scary as hell! More than once, she left the Union building to give a piece of her mind to the ungrateful/selfish/inconsiderate brats who are bugging her Rangers.

When that happens, her face becomes so dark and furious that even the toughest beast doesn't dare look at her in the eyes. Thankfully, she doesn't need to come to blows most of the time, but when she does...Let's just say that the adrenaline rush and rage do the trick.

To put it bluntly, Rhythmi's a raging Mama Hawk who's ready to kill in order to protect her precious Rangers. A very scary Mama Hawk.

Kellyn LOVES Pokemons. That's not new. In fact, he prefers Pokemons over humans. He's also quite the cuddly type and doesn't hesitate to hug and give affection to the Pokemons around him. May them be Fischl, Sapphire, or even complete strangers.

However, sometimes it happens that Keith starts to glare stare at the Pokemons getting pampered by his boyfriend. He then gets in the middle of the group, gently pushes the creatures away, and cuddles close to Kellyn's chest.

Kellyn always laughs at his antics, just like the Pokemons who know he means no harm. So, once they craddle themselves against the boy's bodies, Kellyn starts to pamper them again.

Cooking and baking skills

Kellyn: The best cook of the group but can't bake at all. Much to his dismay.

Keith: Can cook but prefers baking surpsingly enough. He decided to improve his baking skills when he discovered that Kellyn had a sweet tooth.

Rhythmi: Sets the kitchen on fire EVERY SINGLE TIME

Kate: Has average skills in both cooking and baking but is eager to improve.

a silly little comic

Rhythmi is pretty, that's a well-known fact. She's quite proud of her silky curly hair and takes good care of it. Maybe Arceus decided to reward her for her constant efforts because she looks fabulous, no matter what. Even with her bed hair.

Kate, however....Doesn't have that chance.

And Kellyn and Keith? Oh, they gave up ages ago. They already have enough trouble taming their hair on a daily basis and looking presentable, so their bed hair...

Laughter and smile

Kellyn's smiles are shy and sweet, making him look like an angel. In addition to that, he giggles lightly and quietly behind his hand. Something that everyone finds absolutely adorable.

Big dazzling and confident grins are Keith's forte. He also has the most innocent and beaming laughter of them all. Laughter and smile that Kellyn swore to protect at all costs.

Pretty, calculated, and polite...Such are Rhythmi's smiles. Most of the time, she will smile like an innocent girl, but it happens that she grows cold and sadistic. Same thing for her laughter. Beautiful but dangerous, just like a rose.

Kate gives big and radiant smiles with little to no hesitation. Her laughter, however, is rare. She says it sounds weird, but that's just because it's a heartfelt and booming one. Rhythmi sincerely wishes to hear it more often.
