people are like ‘why would the freshman hate Neil??’ u guys need to remember. neil is an asshole. like god bless him but let’s not forget
I'm drowning in readings and assignments rn so I haven't been able to read tgr yet. If I get spoiled I will throw up. I can't wait to see my best friends (Jean Moreux and Neil Josten)
Your to-do lists are menus, not marching orders. I've gotten so much out of doing a weekly brain dump and then just selecting a few things out of it. Like "here are all the things I could do, not I'll pick a few that would improve my life in a meaningful way and a few that I just want to, the rest can chill". Unless you achieve enlightenment, we all die with unfinished business. It's chill. You're not a failure. It's just an option.
Create a capsule menu of shelf stable and long lasting fridge foods for when you don't feel like menu planning. Like a capsule wardrobe. Cooking oil is like your underwear, it's a base necessity. Then 3 sources of protein, 3 sources of fiber, 3 sources of volume. For us, proteins are canned chicken, eggs, and yogurt. Fiber is frozen vegetable mix, chia seeds, and legumes. Volume is rice, frozen bread, or oatmeal. Pick three spice mixes (Taco, Curry, and Cajun for us) and mix and match. Add some fun items like cheese, jam, and a condiment or two. Mix and match, throw something together. You can even roll on a dice table for it.
Morale items aren't pointless or wasteful. I spent entirely too much on coffeemonsterzco stickers recently. Guess who's updated their bullet journal and memory keeping calendar for several weeks now? Me. Guess who's already had it uncover and recontextualize medical issues? Also me. It's not pointless. Get the damn stickers.
Listing three good things everyday/gratitude is not overblown hype. It's not meant to dismiss negative feelings or even make you feel good - it helps you correct for you brain's negativity bias and create cognitive flexibility which in turn improves resilience and decision making. Way too many people get the wrong read on it. It's genuinely helped me lately even through some real unfun shit.

“But the 8-hour workday is too profitable for big business, not because of the amount of work people get done in eight hours (the average office worker gets less than three hours of actual work done in 8 hours) but because it makes for such a purchase-happy public. Keeping free time scarce means people pay a lot more for convenience, gratification, and any other relief they can buy. It keeps them watching television, and its commercials. It keeps them unambitious outside of work. We’ve been led into a culture that has been engineered to leave us tired, hungry for indulgence, willing to pay a lot for convenience and entertainment, and most importantly, vaguely dissatisfied with our lives so that we continue wanting things we don’t have. We buy so much because it always seems like something is still missing.”

i think im getting better! :) [another event occurs]

btw now is the best time to keep boycotting. the israeli economy has never been weaker. don't stop the protests or the demands for divestment. keep supporting organisations like the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Accountability Archive. ofc don't stop boosting and donating to Palestinians as Gaza is still uninhabitable.
enjoy this moment but the work has not ended

i honestly don't know how to say this but the survival of an entire group of people who are going through a active genocide should not have to depend on how well they are able to articulate and present their condition to you in a post.
but it is. a person gets donations to buy necessities if their post ends up being eye catching or something that grabs the reader's attention. what happens to those who cannot make such posts? no one's survival should depend on something like this.
i urge you to help alaa and her two young children. she needs to buy food and other necessities which are very expensive. she also needs to buy firewood regularly to keep warm.
her fundraiser has been verified.
please donate and help her out
they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"

i don't wanna sound hopeless but i feel like so many of you don't care or have stopped caring about palestine.
the news of hospitals being bombed, children being massacred, people dying from the cold, and the famine spreading in gaza does not seem enough to grab attention or make people care.
what new tragedy needs to befall gaza for you to start talking about it? the occupation kills a child every few minutes. people are cold and are starving. refugee camps are being bombed with bombs that can level city blocks.
this all happens because of all of us. we are complicit in this genocide because our governments use the taxes we pay to send weapons to the occupation. weapons that are used to kill children and impose a blockade that is starving 2 million people.
the very fact that we're still going about our days when all of this is going on breaks my heart. especially because we have failed to stop our governments from using our money to arm israel.
i urge you, please be generous and donate to suad and her baby khaled. he is just six months old and suad is unable to find any formula for him. if she finds anything, it is extremely expensive. the baby also needs warm clothes and is suffering from a respiratory problem and needs a nebulizer.

please help suad and her baby boy
Ahhhh i needed to hear this
I wanted to reblog this to say, it's gotten better. Of course nothing is perfect and this specific situation is more of a long term thing but it's gotten so much easier to manage both physically and mentally. Treating myself with kindness and gentleness through it all helps, it makes it so you can build urself back up with much less burnout. Take all the time you need, you are loved.
I'm going through and absurdly difficult time right now, I'll be ok. Everyone will be, and whatever happens is for the best. I don't need to handle it gracefully it jsut will happen. It's ok if I don't do my 10 step skincare or haircare routines, it's ok to do the bare minimum. Try to brush ur teeth once in the day it doesn't havw to be at night or the morning. It's ok that work is eating you alive and you wish you could enjoy it, focus on one task and try to get through it. Take breaks every hour, or every 30 minutes. It won't all fall apart. No one hates you or thinks you're incompetent, and even if they do it's not the end of the world. People know you and know what you can do. You don't owe anyone an explanation just do your best, even if it's ugly or bad. These opportunities are amazing even when done poorly, good things are not wasted just because they're happening now. Just get through it. As you've always done, and will continue to do.

Desi fantasy characters don't eat bread and cheese on long journeys, they eat roti and achar. Preferably mango or lemon, but any will do tbh. No, I will not be taking any questions on this subject
Most anti phone advice is so inane and regurgitated to me but one thing I’ve been thinking about for days is “social media is okay, but the real danger comes in when you think your phone should be your go to during your limited pockets of leisure” like that’s literally the truest thing ever

TAKE A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR FUTURE. ENVISION A VERSION OF YOURSELF THAT FEELS WHOLE, LOVED, SAFE, NURTURED, AND FREE:
write morning & night routines this self takes part in.
how do they honor their joy?
who do they surround themselves with?
what do they do when they’re experiencing difficult feelings?
how do they speak to themselves? how do they speak to others?
how do they handle conflict?
write a list of ways that they care for their mind & body.
do they have a spiritual practice? how do they honor it?
do they have boundaries in place? if so, what?
do they embrace vulnerability? in what ways?
what do they do in their free time?
where do they place the most meaning in their life?
how do they bring in security and abundance?

I'm starting to get the impression that you guys really do think the curtains are just blue.
I’ve had on and off anxiety everyday for the past week after a big anxiety attack triggered it. I’m taking steps to understand anxiety and to do things good for my body and mind. However, sometimes it feels overwhelming and like I will never feel like my normal self again. I have my good moments but the anxious moments I have it’s like I forget who I once was before all of this anxiety. Any advice for dealing with an anxious or depression period? I normally find so much joy and beauty in life, but lately it’s been hard. But I am not giving up hope :)
I'm sorry you're experiencing that right now, I understand how heavy it can feel. All selves we have been before are still in us and we can be at peace again. You knew it once, you will know it again. I find myself in a similar state these past few weeks too. You have to hold some compassion for yourself and not judge yourself for feeling stuck. Know that it is temporary, as all feelings come and pass and come again. I have been listening to calming music/mantras throughout the day, trying to eliminate unnecessary stressors (like watching shows, scrolling, overstimulating environments, overbooking), I communicate with those that make me feel loved and heard, I take extra care of my body and myself, I try not to shut myself away and push through the anxiety to hang at my best friend's house or do something I know I'd find fun. I read more, I study something interesting, I journal like 5 pages a day, meditate, qigong, ground in my body, get fresh air. Not one thing is a cure all, but each thing is a gentle push to being in your body more, to being grounded, to caring for yourself, to see the light and sweetness that is around us and in the world. I try not to fall into the pit of despair that feels only a few steps away. I do not give up hope. I search for hope. And in that searching I do find it. You will too. <3
