"come on lily, dumbledore said they are coming!"
lily jumped on her feet and her breakfast almost fell off the table. how come peter knows something again and she doesn't? she hated not knowing things.
"who is coming?" she asked, trying to keep calm, though she wanted to take peter's head in her hands and shout why didn't i know???
" i though you knew about the tr-"
that's the moment when lily remembered about the triwizard tournament. mcgonagall told her that it's going to be this year in the summer holiday, when she met her at a café in london. but why this year? why in the time she was at school? and what if...she is gonna get picked?
lily tried to forget about her last thought. she concentrated on peter now. now that lily remembered about the tournament, she wanted to know more.
"durmstramg and beauxbatons?" she asked peter, now looking at him, tilting her head a bit.
"what?" he said, getting back on his feet.
"they're coming?"
"oh yea!" peter jumped." OH GOD LILY, WE NEED TO RUN, THEY'RE ALREADY HERE!"
"what? which of them?" lily asked, and her voice was a bit more of a shout, as everyone was running in the great hall, trying to get to the lake.
"I HAVE NO IDEA LILY, LET'S RUN!"

Tom absolutely was missing a tooth or two. He's got a punch-able face and definitely annoyed the other orphans.
Going back to the cockney accent though 👀
This child absolutely learned how to fake a semi-convincing upperclassmen accent by people watching. I like to assume he learned to do this before Hogwarts either to make him a more desirable adoption candidate or just to make himself sound more trustworthy.
Speaking of, Tom 100% used his posh-voice on Dumbledore when they first met so he has never heard Tom's cockney accent.
No wonder Dumbledore thinks Tom was just built different. Tom went through an 💕I'm not like other girls💕 phase and never got a wake up call because he was too busy convincincing everyone else that it was true.
Look me in the fucking eye and tell me Tom Riddle had straight teeth as a child
That boy grew up in 1930's London in a muggle orphanage, his chompers had to have been a wreck
It was probably one of the first things he got bullied for, alongside his clothing and surname (because no decent Pureblood child has crooked teeth and in Slytherin there are only decent Pureblood children, honestly, what is Riddle even doing there?) and was almost certainly one of the first things he sought to change in his life using magic
I can just imagine him trying his best to be charming, learning how to smile without showing his teeth, talking without opening his mouth all the way & never letting anyone see him laugh for real bc any time someone catches a glimpse of his teeth it instantly undoes all his hard work bc at the end of the day- no matter how charming or clever he is- he's still just a mudblood gutter rat and his crooked teeth never let him (or anyone else) forget that
Until one summer (I'm thinking before 5th year, so around the time that he murders his relatives) he sneaks away from the orphanage to see a back alley Healer in Knockturn Alley to finally, finally get his teeth fixed (for a fee, of course, but they don't question where the money's from and Tom certainly isn't telling) and that September he strides into the school with the most winning smile money can buy, and suddenly it's over for everyone who once doubted him
With a Horcrux on his finger, noble blood in his veins, and a freshly winning smile, Tom Marvolo Riddle feels nothing like a gutter rat, not anymore
He's the Heir of Slytherin, Greatest of the Hogwarts Four
Galatea Merrythought was the dark arts professor during Tom Riddle’s school years, retiring when he graduated.
In this fic, Merrythought becomes Riddle’s mentor and was the one to introduce him to the many creatures (vampires, werewolves, giants, etc) who would’ve made up Voldemort’s ranks. Instilling in him a sense of adventure and treasure hunting that gave him the knowledge to find the lost Diadem in the first place.
Merrythought takes him on wild adventures that are only possible because she has an illegal time turner.
Tom accidentally becomes friends and fellow adventurers with Muggleborn Hufflepuffs Nobby Leach and Margot Doope, and Ravenclaw underclassman Myrtle Warren.
Nobby being a blunt, angry little gremlin who says what he thinks no matter what others may say about him. He has no patience for his bloodpurity spouting Pureblood classmates and will throwdown for his fellow Puffs anytime, anywhere. Despite his rude, brash personality, his fellow Muggleborns still find him a compelling leader. Now, Tom and Leach together...they’re practically unstoppable.
Margot is a cold, logical upperclassman who would likely fit in with the Ravenclaw’s if not for her dedication to her work. She refuses to believe magic and muggle technological advances can’t be combined and experiments with both. They often explode in her face, but she refuses to give up.
Myrtle is always popping up where you least expect her, and annoying the hell out of Tom. She’s far sharper than her boy-crazy tendencies would have you believe, but she usually arrives at the wrong conclusion and still somehow manages to be right. (Much to Tom’s frustration.)
Basically the Muggleborn friend squad you never knew you wanted. This time with an extra helping of the ignored and overlooked Hogwarts Houses, aka the not-Gryffindors. :D
A group of friends working together to figure out wixen culture, their identities, and their place in the world.
Also they’re all LGBT+ of some kind. You’re Welcome.
TL:DR
Tom Riddle Hogwarts AU where he gets a supportive professor and muggleborn friends who go on wacky adventures together and figure out how to be human.
And yes Tom is still messed up, but so are they. It’s not gonna be all sun shine and roses. See my other tom riddle posts for reference. I’ll likely be addressing most if not all of them.
Alright this one’s going to get disturbing very quickly. WARNING: Pureblood inbreeding shenanigans.
This isn’t going to be another post explaining why Tom hated his name because it’s a muggle name or because it’s common. I think that’s part of it, but I haven’t seen anyway address this angle:
Tom hated his name because of his mother.
Alright, so at some point someone in Hogwarts likely tried to slip Tom a love potion. Let’s say, in his Seventh year. It doesn’t work, Dumbledore finds out and mentions this one study about how those conceived under a love potion are immune to its effects...and also incapable of love. (I think that last part is bs but that’s a different post).
In his last year at Hogwarts, Tom is already aware that his mother was a witch and his father was the muggle. He’s already pinned the blame on his father for leaving, and placed his mother into the role of victim. He saw his father as having the power, and his mother as being weak. His father, the strong Slytherin-like Muggle who conned the weak witch Merope into sleeping with him.
But this changes things.
All of a sudden his mother is the one in the role of the abuser, and his father in the role of victim. It’s his Slytherin, Pureblood Mother who forced his oblivious Muggle Father into marrying her.
She kidnapped and raped Tom’s father, and then when he escaped, and Tom was born, she named her son after her victim.
And what were her first, and last, words for her son? She hoped, “that her son would turn out to look like his father.”
Alright here’s where shit gets real.
What were the Gaunt’s known for again? Rampant and extreme inbreeding and incest. Cousins marrying cousins, sisters marrying brothers, etc.
So mothers marrying sons? I do not find that hard to believe for this family.
When you replace “father” with “victim” the ickiness really shines through. So here’s Merope giving her child the name of her victim (and her father, who abused her, now those implications I like even less, if that’s possible) and the first thing she does is express a wish that he’ll look like her victim. What the Fuck.
So here’s the very real possibility that Merope could be thinking about grooming her small child into becoming her replacement Tom Riddle 2.0 husband, or at the very least a Tom Riddle that was dependent on her, had no other choice but to love her, and could not run away because there was nowhere to run.
Tom probably pieced this together, promptly threw up, and very aggressively doubled down on his new chosen name.
TL:DR
canon Merope Gaunt would not have been a good mother, no matter what Dumbledore believed, and Tom dodged a bullet on that front.
‘your obedient servant’ from hamilton, but it’s regulus black at dumbledore in whatever happened to the young young lovers

J. K. Rowling : Dumbledore was ga-
Homophobic fans over 20 : sToP rUiNiNg OuR cHildHoOd!
Dumbledore is the most well executed mentor figure for Harry in the series, for two reasons.
First is what he represents. Since the very beginning of the series, he trusts him absolutely, and is along with the Weasleys the only adult with whom he shares that title. But Harry trusts Dumbledore even though he doesn't know anything about him. Harry, who has a pathological mistrust of adults, always feels that he can rely on him. He's the only wizard that Voldemort ever feared, and his very presence at Hogwarts makes it so that there is at least one place which Harry knows is safe.
And then he's killed. Just before the final book, before the last confrontation Harry and the Dark Lord will have, the man whom Harry though he could most rely on dies. The warm blanket of comfort and safety that Dumbledore provided is suddenly gone, and Harry must face Voldemort as his own man, no mentors to guide and protect him. His final challenge. "The last and greatest of his protectors had died, and he was more alone than he had ever been before" Of course, there was another protector left still, but Harry didn't know that at the time.
Dumbledore is also unique among Harry Potter characters in that he's the one who most understands the Harry Potter settings supernatural elements.
Fantasy and supernatural are not the same. Fantasy is when things that would not be possible in our world, indeed, what in the real world would be classified as supernatural, are mundane elements of the setting, as real and part of nature as anything else. Magic, dragons, spells, potions and house elves and all, is part of the nature of the world. They are not considered supernatural elements for wizards, the way they are for muggles. Supernatural elements are those that surpass what is perceived as natural in any given setting. Harry Potter as a series has both, and Dumbledore is the only character who truly understands them.
What am I talking about? Mainly (though not exclusively) Love, capital L. In Harry Potter, Love, unconditional, true, Love is more than just an emotion. It has magical reality, it tangibly affects the world. While it falls under the umbrella of magic, It is the most mysterious and least understood of the magics. It is ancient, and powerful beyond belief. It is what made Harry's mind agony for the Dark Lord to touch. What permitted Dumbledore to trust Snape absolutely (and if you want a more detailed analysis of how Love and Snape are fundamentally intertwined, and how his arc is among the most important in telling the message Rowling wanted to tell, read this meta by rex-luscus), what allowed Harry to survive the unstoppable Killing curse, when no one had ever done it before.
Most powerful mentor figures in fiction teach the protagonist powerful spells and magic. It's expected. After all, in most stories, the hero defeats the villain by growing to match them in power. Not so in Harry Potter. Harry, while a powerful wizard, and very talented in DADA, is nothing out of this world. He never approaches Voldemort's league. Whenever his killing curse fails, it is by supernatural mechanisms, that Voldemort cannot fathom but that neither fully understand. Lily's protection. Priori Incantatem. The supernatural phenomenon of the magical world. In both these scenarios, the first to understand what truly happened and explain is Dumbledore. In their private sessions, Dumbledore never teaches Harry powerful spells, or Potions, as many would expect him to (that role is left to other mentors of his, mainly Lupin and Snape). He teaches him philosophy, how to understand the mind of Tom Riddle, and about the nature of magic itself as a phenomenon. He teaches him wisdom, to understand the world. That's why, when Harry comes into his own, it is no surprise that he defeats him by understanding, on a deeper level, the Deathstick. Another of the myths and legends of the magical world, that is nonetheless real. When Voldemort casts at Harry his third and last killing curse, he dies, with only Harry understanding why. He has learned all that Dumbledore wanted to teach him. He has taught him to be wise.
Voldemort's main flaw is that magic only has value to him in so much as it is a tool that he can bring under his control to increase his power. He views it almost like a scientific discipline. And in those areas, the non supernatural ones, he is unrivalled. Dumbledore is at most his equal, but probably not. When they fight, they are evenly matched, even though Dumbledore has the Elder Wand. Dumbledore acknowledges him as the most brilliant student that Hogwarts has ever seen, a tacit admission that he is his superior. And yet, Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer to ever live. Why? Because he understands the mysteries of magic, knows that magic is a fundamentally supernatural force. Voldemort opened his mind to the power of magic, but could not see what lay beyond. His mind remained shackled, and he never did understand magic beyond what is conceivable by science. Dumbledore did, and that's why he's the only one he ever feared. And it's what makes him the perfect mentor for Harry.
Characters that fascinate me:
1. Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter): after re-reading HP again, I started to put more effort on dissecting the interactions between Dumbledore and other people, especially Harry and Snape. Dumbledore's strategies, plans and the use of emotions of other people for his favours and for the greater good is for me unlike what most people consider, admirable. I have heard many people mention the fact they hate Dumble's because he is "evil", I like morally grey characters and the fact is Dumbledore's actions were not evil in any way. Did he raise Harry to die? Yes. But that doesn't mean he did that for fun (or ounce presented a way to save Harry he didn't make sure to prevent his death). Every step Dumbledore took was to defeat Voldy in the end, who was committing mass genocide. To prevent deaths of hundreds, thousands of people, it was okay for him to sacrifice certain people (mostly Himself, Harry and Snape). I also think Dumbledore could or should have been in Ravenclaw or Slytherin because his qualities matches those houses more than Gryffindor (also can you imagine how conflicting it would have been for Harry if Dumbledore causally mentions he is a Slytherin or if he was a Ravenclaw there could have been more characters in that house than Quirrell and Lockhart of all people)
2. Daria Morgendorffer (Daria): if there was a character that I could relate to the most, it's her. Daria's cynical outlook, her quick wit, her quotes are so entertaining to watch. Its really amazing to be able to have a character that represents the perceptions of the quiet kids. As one of them, Daria is the representation of rebellion against the power hungry, capitalistic and tone deaf world we live in.
3. Amy Dunne (Gone Girl): this woman sacres me. She is the epitome of the perfectly imperfect villainous yet fascinating character that captures your attention. She is a psychopath. She is a liar. She is deranged. And I can't help liking her as a complex person.
4. Wanda Maximoff (Wandavison): from her ability to manipulate the minds of all the original avengers (except Hawkeye) in age of Ultron to her batshit crazy powers in multiverse of madness (including the fact defeating the entire illuminati while dream walking), Wanda had come far from being just another avenger to one of most powerful beings in the current MCU. And all of that due to a mother's love, shows you how powerful loss and love can be.
5. L. Lawliet (Death Note): world's top three detectives, the boy who stopped WW3 as a kid, the blueprint for Wammy's house, the deductive genius who almost captured the worst serial killer in history. L will never cease to be interesting. His backstory reveals that L was always the best, no matter if he could defeat Light Yagami or not (he sort of did defeat Light as he knew Light was Kira the 1st time he met him). The most interesting aspect of L is how neutral his moral ideals are, on one hand he spends all this time (literally, as he doesn't sleep) to solve the Kira case, on the other hand he isn't reluctant to play with people's emotions and sacrifice certain people to reach his end goals. While L is the antagonist, everyone loves him as the hero to Light's protagonist villain. I do love L as much as the next person; what I love more than that is how he is just as morally grey as Light but stays on the grey part and never becomes the villain he could be, something that Light became.
6. Allison Dilaurentis (Pretty Little Liars): in my opinion, the most evil of the onscreen Mean girls (except for Courtney Shane and Chanel Oberlin). Allison in the first few seasons was the most fascinating aspect of the show, the sheer power she holds in Rosewood, the way she manipulates all her friends, the way she could destroy lives of anyone she wants is the best part of her character. But after her return from the "dead" she became kinda boring and not the fantastic villain we wished she was. Like, they could have made Aria "A" instead of evil British cousin and made Allison the one controlling Aria, as it was clear Aria was hiding something about herself, the show also gave many clues about her and she seemed be the person Allison liked the most among the liars (she also got the least torment from Allison as well as A). It makes sense if they were both working together. But no, that's too predictable! You have to pull the evil twin plot for shock value!!!!
7. Regulus Black (Harry Potter): he is the best example of a good Slytherin (*ahem* Snape *ahem*). The best thing about his arc is he used to be a death eater but changed sides after knowing how shitty Voldy is, protected his house elf and sacrificed his life for the world. And had a better reason for changing sides than someone very similar to him (*ahem* Snape *ahem*)
Ps: I did not die. Next time.
It's really funny that Dumbledore has such an interesting magical name "Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore" and one of his middle name's is Brian...just some normal dude called Brian.
definitely
i think dumbledore was growing weed in the forbidden forest the whole time and that’s why it was forbidden. that’s also why he acts the way he does.

Dumbledore: I wont give you detention on one condition.
Fred: What?

The spectacular @vitoriabas has brilliantly imagined what our fave Harry Potter characters would have worn during their time at Hogwarts—so if you’ve ever wanted to see James Potter in short shorts, HERE’S YOUR CHANCE.

It really be like that but honestly I love it and always will 😌

Translation
1. At first, Dumbledore considered the young man a “chessman”
2. An especially useful “piece” to take The Dark Lord down
3. But he ended up pouring too much love
4. And the “chessman” turned into a “human”, a kid he cared about
5. At last he let the kid used him as a “piece” to end the game
*Chess piece (棋子) rhymes with Kid (孩子) in Chinese
Note: So I started writing this a while ago but never got round to publishing it. A.k.A I forgot about it. Then I remembered about while reading a fanfic and thought you know... fuck it I’ll finish it and upload it. So that's where we are now! Also sorry for spelling a Grammar. Also I know Snape is kind of OC in some parts but it works better.
Title: Wait What?!
Fandom: Harry Potter Obviously
Rating: M- Swears, Mentions of abuse.
Summary: Two years after Severus Snape started teaching at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry he was in a relationship with a muggle trying to move on from Lily. Didn't work. Unfortunately the relationship only lasted a year before the two went their separate ways. All seemed normal for Snape after that. the only problem was that only days before the two split a child was conceived. Snape never knew he had a child. What happens when he discovers the truth the summer before her first year and her troubled childhood.
Isabelle Jones/Snape (I don't own the pic right to owner)
To say Severus was irritated would be an under statement. It was the summer between Gryffindor's Golden-Pain-In-The-Arse’s second and third year and all he wanted to do was relaxe, and do potions research, both things he couldn't do in the school year because he was either teaching or searching for Slytherins monster. But no! the old man wants to discuss something important Snape ranted in his head I swear to Merlin and back if it just that he has run out leman drops or Potter has some how gotten into trouble he is not going to like the consequences.
“What is it Albus? Have you run out of those horrid muggle sweets?” Severus asked the headmaster of the school as he entered the office.
“No Severus, I plenty thank you! Would you like one?” The old man offered the youngest professor.
“No Albus, you know I don't like them.” Severus turned down the offer pinching the bridge of his nose “Why exactly am I here?”
“Well my boy, as you know around this time in the school holidays Minerva visits the Muggle-born student who will be joining us this year to answer their questions-” Albus started but was interrupted Severus.
“Spit out man! What does it have to do with me?” Severus snapped, his impatience clearly showing.
“You have never been very patent have you Severus” Albus sighed “Minerva discovered something that should come to some interest to you” Albus explained indicating to the Head of Gryffindor House, who was standing by the fire place, to take over.
“I was just about to visit a Muggle-born student by the name Isabelle Jones when I hear something very disturbing inside the house.” Minerva paused looking for the words the mother used “The mother was yelling at the child ‘you are just like your father a freak worthless piece of crap! Its because of him that you can do things you can. You look just like his you ugly bitch! You even have his huge arse nose! He hated you before you where even born! He left when he found out I was pregnant with you! He couldn't even stand you then and no one will ever be able to stand your presence-”
As Minerva recited the hateful words the mother was yelling at the child Severus felt his stomach drop. Please don't let it be true, Severus pleaded, the time fits the child could of been conceived shortly before we split, but Jones is a popular last name it could just be a coincidence... Besides I would never would of never of left the mother and child to fend for themselves I would of helped even if I was no longer with the mother.
“Then the yelling stopped and I heard the whimpers of a child followed by crack of a belt and a child's cry.” Minerva's voice showed her increasing anger “It was all I needed to hear to know I had to get the child out of that woman's care. I opened the door and quickly binded the mother and checked on the child to see if there were any injuries that needed to be healed on the spot. the poor thing was shaking like a leaf! I did my best to calm and sooth her as I could before bringing her to the infirmary. I remembered what the girls mother said about her father and asked Poppy to cast a spell to identify the girls parents.” Minerva paused as she walked towards Severus her anger increasing. “Gust who’s name appeared. None other than our very own Severus. Tobias. Snape!” Minerva poked Severus chest as she said his name clearly angry with him.
Severus felt his hole world crumble down around him. I have a daughter... a daughter! Not only did I not know about her but she was abused by her own mother! “Shit” Severus whispered as he ran a hand down his face.
“Oh yes shit, young man! How dare you leave your own child! Not even-” Minerva started to scold Severus but he cut her off.
“Do you really think me so low Minerva? To leave a Pregnant woman to fend for herself! I didn't even know she was fucking Pregnant! Even if I was no longer with her and she told me I would of been there! I would take responsibility! I would of been there. Every. Single. Day. If I knew” Severus exclaimed pain evident in his voice. “You would think if I knew you two would be the first people I would turn to. I consider you two my parent, you care more than my real parents ever did... Imagine how it feels finding out that you have a child you never new about who was also abused, and in the same day having people who you consider your own parents accuses you of abandoning that child-” Severus’s voice cracked, the tears threatening to spill “you know what, forget it, I’m going to check on my daughter.” Severus said exiting the office to equally teary eyed professors behind.
I have decided that I want to become a teacher and have also decided that on type first day I will scare the shit out of the new year 7’s starting at the school 😂
*first day of class and tiny year 7 students standing outside the room*
Me: *door bursts open marking the students jump* Everyone in and stand behind your chair *Smirks*
*students do as told*
Me: *as walking quickly towards the front of the class room makeing cardigan/cape blow in the wind* There will be no foolish pen clicking. In. This. Class. *turns to to class* I don’t expect many of you to know the exact science and art that is Music, but there can be a select few who have a small understanding. I can teach you how to capture the ears and insnare the mind. I can teach you how to write and compose. Music is a powerful tool it could lighten the darkest of moods and would even in extrem cases put a stopper in death!
Ever wonder why Dumbledore likes knitting patterns so much? Well, I shouldn’t be telling you this but Grandad’s wand is actually a knitting needle and he just uses the Elder Wand for show. Shhhhh….
Imagine if Fawkes could talk…just the comments he’d make on everyone that entered the office and the intense conversations he and Dumbledore would have…
