I think a bunch of us have already posted/fawned over how smooth/nice Stolas' laugh was in this moment (jfc Bryce Pinkham your VA work never misses). And how significant it is that Blitzø can get a laugh out of him even when he's having literally one of the worst days of his life and feeling serious grief.

But I've been mulling over how good that laugh must've felt to Blitzø.

IIRC, he hasn't made Stolas laugh since Seeing Stars. It's been at least 4-5 months, probably more like 6+.

And of course we know that, when Blitzø was in denial about Stolas' feelings, one of the things that hurt the most was the thought that Stolas laughing at his jokes was fake. We know he has lifelong insecurities about how his humor is perceived, stemming from Fizz always being more liked and charismatic.

This is the first time Blitzø has made Stolas laugh, not since the not-a-breakup, but since very, very soon after Ozzie's.

It's the first time he's made Stolas laugh knowing it was real and letting himself feel that it was real.

Even if Stolas is feeling like shit and the happiness is just for a moment, it's there and it's genuine. The real, walls-down Blitzø is who he's connecting with. Blitzø knows he can and does make Stolas happier just by being himself.

And oh lordy does it make him so relieved and happy, too.

Look at that face. Man down! He's smitten all over again. His heart's going to vacate his chest and ascend straight out of Hell.

There's been discussion on how/why Blitzø fell for Stolas, and here we're seeing evidence. He fell for the tall, pretty bird who has a really nice laugh, who exchanges banter easily with him, who goes along with his offbeat ideas like dancing on the balcony, who understands that being compared to a tall-tall horse is a compliment... the one who thinks he's funny even when no one else in Hell does. Blitzø would fight 1,000 Andrealphuses and all of Hell for that laugh.

Something about Sinsmas

It’s this scene right here that’s stuck with me ever since the episode released. Blitz is the happiest he’s been in a while. Not to mention the most open and unguarded. The most relaxed. Which brings me to my sticking point.

Those marks under Blitz’s eyes? They aren’t stress/tension marks. You know, those little marks under the eyes that artists use to highlight the strong emotion in characters in certain scenes. No, those marks under Blitz’s eyes are eye bags.

Blitz is exhausted, and he has been for a good while now (those eye bags have been there in earlier episodes too). And now? With him pushing everything to the back-burner to take care of Stolas and Millie’s possible pregnancy reveal in the future? Season 3 could very easily have Blitz getting better at self care with the help/for the sake of his found family. Or maybe even having him break under the pressure prior to that growth.

Honestly, I’m just excited that there’s something else for me to lookout for in Season 3.

Worries unfounded, Stolas IS stronger than “Mastermind” led me to believe. I am SO freakin relieved right now!

Now I just need Stolas to not backpedal in season 3.

okay so I was busy all throughout last night and I never saw viv's tweet, so imagine my surprise today when this cinematic masterpiece showed up in my yt notifications!!

overall such a great episode and it leaves me SO. FUCKING. EXCITED for season 3, but more (MUCH more) thoughts below the cut (I tried to make it in order this time ;v;)

first of all, I'm LOVING the domestic Stolitz SO MUCH and soft moments like this is exactly what they need after being in such a hypersexual relationship imho

I didn't even think about how weird eating eggs would be for an owl. Or that stolas eats rats

Stella and Andre are being assholes, what else is new.

It's interesting how they treat Octavia like a child, talking about her as if she weren't in the room with them

The whole scene of them shopping was so cooool

I really like the interesting take on Christmas, also shoutout to blitz flipping the couch over lol

Millie being frustrated and wanting to kill the family was especially interesting after getting more background on her after ghostfuckers. After finding out that she's pregnant at the end of the episode, it would make sense if she wanted to kill them because it reminded her of that and she was scared. But it could also connect to her "I'm the muscle and nothing else" insecurity that we saw from ghostfuckers. Even if she's come to peace with that, it's bound to come back on a day all about celebrating your origins.

Laughed my ass off when stolas punched Andre. He def learned that from moxxie and millie

The fight scene was absolute perfection. You can tell the animators said "fuck the budget!"

THE STOLITZ KISS SCENE OMFG

The fact that via saved stolas' life, but still hasn't forgiven him is actually so sad

A little detail I loved was that blitz was actually able to make stolas laugh, even though they are both in such dark places. And I think that's how they are gonna get through it in the end

You chose to leave her the SECOND you thought someone would harm your precious little imp. You didn't even bother thinking about how she would feel SEEING YOU IN THAT SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE.

And before someone says he never did and actually loved her, this doesn't sound like someone who stayed miserable just for their kid to be happy.

(Before anyone says the last two images contradict my statement, him saying this is the equivalent of saying "Hey little Timmy the only reason I allowed myself to be abused and insulted for 17 years is so YOU can have a normal life so I'm let myself suffer solely because of YOU despite having every chance to leave but i chose not to because of YOU". Doesnt sound good does it?)

But this line here:

"It was never enough?" For her?

Does this look like someone who needed more out of an already shitty marriage?

She insulted and bitched about him to her friends, but it looks like the only thing that she needed to be happy was her parties, her equally spoiled friends, and to be pampered 24/7. All things she pretty much had.

It was STOLAS that was never happy and needed more.

Every scene they show him in from the past, he's always icing himself out from the crowd with a scowl on his face and halfway into a bottle of booze.

HE was the one that felt what he had was never enough.

HE was the one to decided to cheat on his wife, not even be private about said affair, and only owned up to it because the narrative demanded it.

And the fact that he just fucking up and decides to not even fight and earn Octavia' forgiveness back is just..

This is NOT someone who loves their child.

If he loved her like he said he did he wouldn't have given up right then; he would've agreed with Blitz when he said this:

All this finale did was confirm the fact that Stolas really didn't care for her in the end. He STILL chose to go home with the same guy that he left his daughter for, he gave up the second she hurt his feelings, and now we're supposed to feel bad for him because of the sad music in the background?

And before anyone says I'm wrong and he didn't choose Blitz over his kid via him going home with the guy, you forgot one tiny little character:

HIS FATHER.

PAIMON.

WHY HASN'T HE GONE TO HIM ABOUT STELLA TRYING TO KEEP OCTAVIA AWAY FROM HIM?

WOULD THIS NOT FUCK UP THE WHOLE HEIR THING FOR THE GOETIA LINE IF ANDRE'S FAMILY WERE TO GET SOLE CUSTODY OF OCTAVIA?

Once again the writing is garbage, the plot is bloated, and Stolas is babies by the narrative for facing the consequences of his actions.

Now he gets the reward of treating Blitz like he doesn't even care about him all throughout season 3 while getting babied even more by Vivziepop and her writing staff cronies

Oh yeah, and Millie's pregnant.

Of course it doesn't get explored any further.

I loved that Octavia didn't forgive Stolas for what he did, because it's really realistic. and her song being practically a remake of "you will be okay" IT WAS SO GOOD! I still have faith that she and her father will make it through because I know what it's like to have a father like Stolas. And that it can be a little difficult to forgive someone like him, but with time and dedication it is possible, and that's why I hope they can be a "happy family" again. Another point I want to talk about is Andy, Stolas simply punched him and Octavia, A TEENAGER, managed to stop his attack. So my theory is that Andy and Stella are part of the weakest Asgoetias and that's why they are the way they are, they are always looking for power and using other people's emotions and their status to get what they want. and I loved the fact that Andy was a silly antagonist!

I agree, he's a beautiful boy...

Why is he the most beautiful being in the universe.

So, I think we're now officially halfway there until Sinsmas releases! The season finale! (Assuming a last day of December release, ofc), might get released earlier than that.

I'm gonna be so real, these 5 seconds more than anything else are what tell me that there's going to be a positive resolution to the Octavia/Stolas/Blitzø arc. They've been establishing the fact that Via and Blitzø are compatible as friends since Loo Loo Land (quote: "I hate that fucking clown").

Look I'm not saying there's gonna be a fight where Blitz says he understands and Stolas says "you don't! I've lost everything!" And blitz just looks at him and Stolas feels his heart sink and that's how Stolas finds out about the Fire, but

Oh fuck I just realized that Stolas losing everything is an echo of Blitzø losing everything, after the fire.

Except Stolas has Blitzø. Who knows what it's like to lose it all. Who's tending to him exactly as he he wished someone could have taken care of him afterwards.

Listen, Blitzø's amount of resilience is incredible. Maybe Stolas's would be too, if he were really forced to be all on his own with nothing. But obviously, Blitzø is going to do his damndest to never let them find out.

Gaahhh they're so perfect for each other.

Dialogue V.S Soliloquy

... and why we haven't really had a Helluva Boss love confession yet.

~*~ Spoilers Below for Mastermind ~*~

I've seen a lot of confusion on this topic floating around the internet and I thought I would offer up my 2 cents on the matter. Like, maybe Vivzie will come out with a tweet that proves this entire theory wrong or something but until then, here is my interpretation.

The song starts off as Stolas addressing the courtroom. He even leads into it saying something like "Lets do this the way I do best- with song." He then proceeds to play a sort of evil villain role, pretending that everything was all part of his evil plan and how dare this dumb little Imp try to take credit for his accomplishments- really playing up the condescension in a way that the Goetia will buy. He's playing to his audience with the ultimate goal of redirecting the blame from Blitz to himself. He's campy and dramatic the whole time until he gets to the line "And I have no regrets."

At that point you will notice a change in the background. As soon as he sings that line we suddenly aren't in the courtroom anymore but in this starry galaxy backdrop with feathers floating around and he immediately sings "I have regrets." Like, it's the very next line. "I have no regrets. I have regrets." The tone shifts from his silly villain monologue to something sadder and more somber. All of this combined is why I believe that this is when the song stops being an address to the court room and becomes a soliloquy.

If you think back to highschool when you were learning about Romeo and Juliet, that's when most people learn about soliloquy- A device used in theater to let the audience into the character's mind. It's usually shown as the character on stage by themselves, speaking their thoughts aloud so that we as the audience can know what they're thinking, but it's accepted that the other characters in the play cannot hear this part.

When Mastermind makes the drastic shift away from campy stage play into somber reverie, I believe this is meant to be a soliloquy. After all, the "I have no regrets. I have regrets" line wouldn't make any sense if Stolas was still addressing the courtroom. He doesn't want them to know he has regrets or that he's questioning everything or that he's even questioning why he's willing to throw everything away for this one man that he's not even on good terms with right now. Additionally, Blitz's parts in this song are his thoughts too: "What have you done?" and "I don't deserve this."

They were both screaming in their heads about how much they love each other but I don't think they've said it out loud, not to each other or anyone else. When Satan sings his part he doesn't comment on any of the lovey dovey stuff, just "Isn't that adorable, we've been betrayed by one of our own." He only comments on Stolas's performance from the beginning of the song. He goes on to talk about how Stolas's hubris had gotten the better of him, but nothing of his heart.

These two haven't confessed their love, they've just both accepted it. I think the purpose of the duet was to show that they're finally on the same page with what they want out of the relationship, but they've still got some work to do in regard to actually getting there. They've said it in their heads- now they need to say it to each other.

They went so unreasonably hard with this sequence in Mastermind and I still can't get the colors and imagery out of my head

IT'S THE WAY THEIR INTERNAL WORLDS BLEED TOGETHER. the way blitz still looks up at him, still in front of him and bathed in light, but the way they're on equal ground this time; there's no pedestal. the golden chains forcing blitz away from stolas vs them dragging blitz to him in truth seekers. stolas on his knees looking up at blitz (the moon) vs blitz on his knees watching stolas. the way that stolas has the freedom to fly after the moon vs blitz being chained down and unable to reach for him. the golden feathers. insane

IM GLAD SOMEONE ELSE NOTICED THIS HE KEPT FUCKING PULLING THEM OFF?? I'm definitely going to have more to say about this and the fucking gold feathers later but I need to stop shaking first

The people who are upset by Millie apologizing to Blitz have never been the person that everyone relies on to not fall apart and then has no one to rely on when they actually do fall apart.
