i started this story on ao3, it's called Just The Nine Of Us (jtnou); a human AU where Jay (Joy) does her best to care for her 8 siblings, while their parents work abroad.

In Jay's life, family came first, and she'd go through Hell and back if it meant her siblings were given a fair chance at life. No matter how many crap attacks life tried to throw at them, nothing would come between the Lancasters. [rated for mild swearing]

Riley barely slept in that movie it’s no wonder Dream Production was cut
Yeah I know, but I still would be happy to see an Inside out short film about nervous dreams :D Like it's a part of growing up
I think forgetting about dream studio in the second film was a mistake. It has so much potential!
I am not fully satisfied with a dictator Anxiety so I drew her myself
And also Anxiety and Fear are besties with siblings dynamic and I came up with their duo name idea that is untranslatable wordplay Трясучка (basically it's a mashup of the words "shaking" and "little bitch")

Val Headcanons
Warnings: Brief mentions of Vomit/Sickness
This contains both romantic and general headcanons
Not proofread other than a brief skimming/whatever autocorrect has caught
She gets car sick easily, so when she goes out with her friends or you, she’s the one driving.
Unrelated but Dani isn’t allowed to drive with Val in the car after Val made her pull over and vomited on the side of the road
Enjoys horror movies occasionally
like she's definitely seen cult classics but doesn’t watch them often
No matter how you both fall asleep, she wakes up on top of you.
She doesn’t know how it happens, and it doesn't matter how you both sleep, she wakes up on top of you no matter what
She can’t stay up past 10 pm, maybe 11 pm on the weekends
Pulled 1 all-nighter in middle school with Dani and hated it bc she was so tired the next day
Her and Dani have probably been friends since at least 6th grade, maybe since elementary, but they were definitely friends throughout middle school
She doesn’t drink coffee often, and if she does it's probably yours, and she makes a grossed out face before handing it back
She probably drinks tea or energy drinks
Despite the fact that she doesn't drink coffee, she has your order memorized if you do drink it
Her favorite kind of energy drink is probably Alani or Celsius
She most likely has a few shelves in her fridge full of energy drinks
Date nights with her are probably really sweet
Like blanket forts and movie nights, drive in movies, picnics, star gazing (only on nights where she can stay up past 10), walks through the park, ect.
Takes care of you when your sick, like she doesn’t care how sick you are, she wants to help you feel better
Val hardly ever gets sick, like she probably got sick once freshman year, and hasn’t since then
Val watches old sitcoms occasionally in her freetime, and somehow gets you to watch them with her
She probably has a not so secret obsession with Spider-man
Like keychains, a few stickers, action figures, posters, a lot of comics, a few tee shirts, and has seen all the movies and keeps track of the different time lines in a google doc or something in her notes app
She gets really happy when you give her stuff, and even if it’s small trinkets
Probably not a big fan of stuffed animals, but if you give her one it sits on her bed and cuddles with it when you're not around
Brings you small trinkets that remind her of you, like flowers, small key chains, a small stuffed animal of your favorite animal
If youre an artist she probably likes to look through your sketchbook and loves when you draw her.
Definitely “accidentially” leaves her hoodie/jackets at your place that she just so happened to be sprayed with the cologne you tell her you like when ever she wears it
Loves physical touch and quality time
Always trying to tug you into her lap, or mindlessly draws shapes into your arms when youre sitting together
But she never wants to make you uncomfortable, and if you ask her to stop she would.
Your first kiss was probably really awkward but also kinda funny, and neither of you can bring it up without the other giggling about it
Remembers every small detail about you
Not only does she know your drink order, but also your favorite food, movies/tv shows, song, book, what perfume you wear, what brand of makeup you like (if you wear makeup), what time you wake up (so when she knows when to send her good morning texts), ect
She probably even knows about your cringy middle school phases
Speaking of cringy faces, she probably had an emo phase in that was like 6 months long in 6th grade, and Dani still bullies her for it
Sends you good morning and good night texts and gets sad when she misses a day

a/n: this has been on my mind for a while and im finally writing it out. Probably not proofreading and idc about grammar. Also established relationship btwn Val and Reader. Might be ooc but idrk because we don’t get a lot of info about her than just basic stuff. Reader is said to be in art clubs/shows.
Okay, so we all know that Val has a vibe that puts people at ease, like we saw in the movie, everyone is fairly comfortable around her (other than riley). So with that, I think that Val would make people feel so at ease that they can fall asleep easier.
You couldn’t sleep like at all. You tried everything, you turned off your phone, closed your eyes, and tried to fall asleep. Eventually you rolled over and saw that it was almost 2 AM. You angrily groaned into your pillow. “Why can’t I sleep?” you wondered aloud before looking at your phone, smiling slightly at the picture of you and your girlfriend as your lock screen, when suddenly an idea pops into your head. You grab your keys and a pair of shoes and text Val, even though you know she wouldn’t answer since she goes to bed at 10 PM.
y/n: I can’t sleep, I’m coming over
No response obviously, so you leave your house, luckily your parents are out of town because you would’ve been dead if they knew you were sneaking out to your girlfriend’s house. You start up your old car and drive to Val’s. s you were driving, you could hear Val’s voice in the back of your head scolding you for driving when you haven’t been sleeping and saying how dangerous it could be.
Once you got to her house you were about to go up and ring her doorbell like you normally would, when you remembered that is was currently 2:15 in the morning and her parents wouldn’t be too pleased with that idea.
So you tried calling Val hoping that you would get an answer. Around the third ring you hear her voice. “Y/N..?” she said tiredly, sleep still thick in her voice. “Hey Val…” you said slightly nervously, was she going to be mad that you were over at her house so late at night? Should you have just stayed home and not slept tonight? Suddenly you hear her voice and were snapped out of your thoughts. “What’s wrong? Are you okay? Did something happen?” She asked half concerned half tired. You laughed nervously “No, no I’m fine, everything’s okay… I just couldn’t sleep and now im outside for some reason, and your neighbors probably think I’m crazy….” Val laughed quietly. “So let me guess, you’re outside my house in your pj’s and slippers because you couldn’t sleep? Are you sure that’s the only reason? Not that we couldn’t have our weekly sleepover because hockey ran too late?” You laughed slightly “Shut up…” You mumbled quietly. “Will you just come let me in please? It’s cold out here…” Y9u heard Val sigh quietly “Sure baby… I’ll be down in a minute.” You hung up the phone and waited for Val.
Shortly after you hung up, the front door opened and Val looked at you with a playful scolding look. You laughed slightly at her bed head and stepped into the house and followed her up to her room. When you got up to Val’s room she flopped back down to her bed. You laid down next to her. Val wrapped on arm around you and pulled you closer to her chest. You sighed contently and moved into a comfier position while still staying close to her. “So you couldn’t sleep again?” Val asked quietly already used to this semi normal routine, since this isn’t the first time this happened, hence why you have weekly sleepovers so you could at least sleep a little bit instead of running on caffeine like a zombie.
You nodded slightly at her question. “Are you sure that’s the only reason you came over?” She asked again in a slightly teasing tone. You looked up at her “I missed you too… we were both busy all week… you had back to back games, and I had an art show thursday night that I couldn’t skip.” Val hummed slightly and started to trace small shapes into your side. “How was the art show?” She asked quietly. “It was really good. A lot of people showed up.” You responded tiredly. “That’s good…” She mumbled “Sorry for not being able to make it… I had too much homework that was about to be graded as late if I didn’t get it in by today…” She said slightly sad about missing your events since you were always at her events. “It’s okay babe… you were busy, it happens.” You said looking up at her into her big brown eyes and go to move some of her wavy hair out of her face.
“I’m sorry for waking you up so late at night….” You mumbled quietly. Val looked down at you slightly confused on why you were apologizing. She never made you feel like you couldn’t come to her for support, even if it’s for something minor. “It’s alright…” she eventually responded. “ t’s not your fault.” she mumbled. “But I woke you up… you’re probably exhausted…” you replied, burying your face into her shoulder. “Don’t worry about it babe…. you’re the only exception to that kind of stuff.” She replied rubbing circles into your back. Eventually the conversation died down and a comfortable silence over took the room, lulling you both to sleep. The best sleep you had gotten all week.
ahhh. This turned out so cute as my first story/post. I really hope you enjoyed reading it.

In this early version of the movie Anxiety was going to be a shapeshifting monster called Tia, who disguises herself as a Mind Worker, and was also potentionally a con artist? Though im not sure if the mention of that is actually a part of this earlier concept.
