Yasmin(16) the oldest of the group typical car loving rich daddy’s girl brat she loves her car more than anything no else is allowed to drive or touch it she is a user of dark magic(like voodoo,hoodoo, and obean)and other types of magic if you say anything about her dad she will hit you, is the most merciful of the group(she still will bully you or record it)drinks and smokes a bit she has a contract with Esperanza’s grandmother sister Ann Marie(I don’t know alastor’s mother’s real name) loves hanging out around her brother and his friends has a huge crush on Ken Tennyson but won’t show it even if he shows affection and flirts back when she flirts, she and Delvin get a long sometimes(they argue over something’s) but if you say one bad thing about him she will throw hands and her family owns three restaurants
Esperanza(15)daughter of the hero and queen astel and guard/now king Trajan youngest and only daughter she is the typical spoiled royal brat who does what ever she wants and is the worst out of the group she may seem nice but is a two faced liar who has gotten into trouble with the police multiple times(half of it for driving without a license never got one) dad taught her how to drive before she could walk (ran over a lot of people) even if you report her for bullying nothing is done about it(same with the others) is a killer like her grandmother and a hell titan without a soul,loves her family and friends but hates humans some she does like,refuses reed every time he tries to court her
Saki(14) daughter of nanba prison guards yolotli and samon gokuu younger sister of Yoko saki is your typical mean rich kid who loves anything that is pink if it’s not pink she doesn’t want it she is the youngest out of the mean girls but the second most meanest she will do anything to get her way either it be bullying or blackmail will brib if necessary she used to be a underage drinker and smoker but stopped after her mom caught(said she would take away all her pink stuff)

one of the things i love about young royals is that the s1 tagline being “love or duty” leads you to believe this is going to be like all of the other cliche royal/commoner modern romances where the journey ends with wilhelm realizing he can have both
but then the show is actually an interrogation of how the protagonist cannot maintain his role within the monarchy and have a healthy relationship because no one can be a fully realized individual within a hierarchical colonial institution AND coming into queerness is a stepping stone to the self realization that ultimately frees him AND it is actually the antagonist who gets trapped within the monarchy (while also losing love) proving that upholding the power of the ruling class is a narrative punishment instead of a reward… perfect show
I need the public reaction to the Crown Prince coming out to be overwhelmingly positive, actually.
I need young queer people posting about how Wilhelm inspired them to come out. I need rapid flashes of tweets and messages about him and Simon; people being happy for them. Turning the blame onto whoever exposed such an intimate moment between two boys in love.
And to top it off? Queen Kristina's argument about "acceptance and patience"? Would become entirely baseless.

oh. so that’s why young royals has been trending for like, 3 days straight. it really is like that huh.
So…Young Royals.
The point of this post is solely to get you to start watching Netflix’s new Swedish teen drama Young Royals.
To give a short summary it’s a love story between 2 boys and one happens to be a prince with the backdrop being that of an elite boarding school.
So it’s about a young prince called Wilhelm. He gets into a fight at a party one night and the next day the entire countries heard the story. The Queen and Kings solution is to send him to the fancy boarding school his older brother went to. He doesn’t want to go, as he’ll be leaving all his friends and any semblance of a “normal” life. When he gets there he meets his extremely intense and elitist cousin August and Felice a girl he knew at elementary school. He also meets Simon who he immediately feels a connection with, possibly a romantic connection.
One of the best things about it is the cast of characters so here they are:
Wilhelm
Wilhelm’s our lead. He’s the second in line for the throne after his older brother. He doesn’t want any part of royal life and after an altercation that went viral he’s forced to go to a boarding school for rich elites (his worst nightmare). He meets Simon and romantic feelings come to fruition which he struggles to deal with.
Simon
Simon is way more than just Wilhelm’s love interest. He’s a local, isn’t a boarder and he’s nowhere near as wealthy as his classmates which has left him as an outcast, he’s resigned to not make a single friend at this school. He’s openly gay and dreams to move away from his home town. When he meets Wilhelm he expects him to be like the other rich kids but he’s sweet and they get along. He’s such a talented and adorable sweetheart and you will want to love and protect him with your entire being.
August
August is Wilhelms second cousin, he’s extremely entitled and classist. He constantly puts down those he sees as lower than himself. He’s the row team captain, a prefect and most popular guy in school. He’s also always had an unrequited crush on Felice. And he tries to insert himself in Wilhelms life more than necessary. The actor is brilliant, the character…hard to like.
Felice
Felice is the richest girl in school. She knows about August’s feelings but says he isn’t royal enough for her. She knew Wilhelm when they were young and she’s started obsessing over him. The more we learn about her the more layers are revealed, she’s not as perfect as she wants to be perceived. It took a while for me to understand her but once I did I enjoyed watching her grow.
Sara
Sara is Simons sister. She’s also an outcast and spends all her time at the stables as she feels she understands horses better than people. Although she says she’s fine being alone when the chance to become closer with Felice arrives she starts to like her. She’s a really interesting character and her relationship with Simon can be adorable, he loves and cares for her so much.
After seeing the trailer I was so excited for this show but it’s 1000 times better than I was expecting and just such a beautiful, wonderful young queer love story! A lot of people have compared the love story to the book Red, White and Royal Blue or Skam and whilst fundamentally similar they are very different at their heart. The chemistry between the lead’s is just crazy good, their first kiss in particular was just beautiful. The soundtrack is this awesome scandi electronic music that just fits the story perfectly. And the direction is way more complex and interesting than most teen shows I’ve seen. Also crazily they’ve actually cast real teens, most of the cast is 18 and they all have acne and blemishes…it’s so realistic and refreshing - I haven’t seen something like that since Skam!
So basically I’m in love with this show, even more in love with it than Wilhelm and Simon are with each other (and that’s a lot) *sobs* THEYRE JUST SO BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT! LOOOK!!!

You ever think about how much easier Simon and Wille's relationship would be if they communicated
It's true there are external factors keeping them apart but (and I say this with love) how much time did we spend going around and around with "you don't understand" "no you don't understand" "it's not easy for me" "it's not easy for me either" but now it her of them actually know anything about the other bc the straight up never explain. Simon says "it feels like you just brushed off the video like he's faced no problems" bc from the outside that's exactly what it looks like. it DOES seem like willes brushed it off and faced no consequences bc Simon doesn't get any of the scenes we get. He doesn't get a great explanation of really anything. And Wille doesn't get great explanations for everything either. But if they talked stuff out productively we wouldn't have drama.
Finally ththere's more understanding in the Reading/lit class scene(which I love, also no way ppl don't realize they're in love with each other)

Just to learn that you never cared(how it could've felt when Wilhelm denied them)
The jokes weren't funny( he has to deal with ppls treatment of him, he can't afford to get in trouble), I took the money(selling to august)
My friends from home don't know what to say(when he punches august and his friends are disappointed/after Wilhelm denies him)
I looked around in a blood-soaked gown
And I saw something they can't take away
'Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned(what's gonna happen with Sara, could be argued what happened with wille)
Take the moment and taste it(whole relationship with Wilhelm)
Everything you lose is a step you take(then end he loses Wilhelm but he stands up for himself and something is on his terms)
So make the friendship bracelets
You're on your own, kid(alone in a school of ppl who don't like him, who've seen his sex tape, he has Sara but she knew about august and didn't tell him)

I JUST-
I think something that is so intrinsic to the queer experience is staying up all night, reading or watching a gay love story on your phone, holding back sobs. Knowing that you could have this one day, that you could be this happy one day. But for now, you have the same four scraps of hope. And while they can be badly written, or unrealistic, and sometimes not even meant for queer eyes; they are yours. And for the night you can hold this hope in your hands and pretend that you are entitled to your own love story, outside of the screen. And you don’t have to be so afraid until the morning comes.
