Religion - Blog Posts

as much as the concept of Jesus being a fairly normal lad has its charms, im personally very intrigued by the idea of him being just… extremely weird. not even in a mystical sense, just…….staggeringly BIZZARRE.

you go to the well to get some water, and here’s Miriam’s boy, staring at the sky, completely still. his expression is unreadable. you hazard a hello and ask how he’s doing, and he slowly, unblinkingly, lowers his gaze on you (he’s 8 and is missing his frontal teeth, not that this is making you any less uncomfortable) and says “I cannot speak of the state of my being, Nathan son of Saul, my brother, but rejoice for the water you shall take today will be as pure as the soul of the children of Heaven”

…you start sweating

Wanted to make my first actual talking post cause I need y'all to know that this space is safe for those who may not feel welcome in their own communities.

No matter anything, you are loved.

Aspec people? Your love is so different from what others expect it to be, and if you're loveless you're so so valid and I love you in the same way I love the universe. Asexual, aromantic, aplatonic, asensual, every a- out there: you're not broken. You're not wrong for being yourself and I love you like all the stars in the sky, so many more than what's visible.

Alterhumans? No matter what/who you are, you're beautiful for exploring your identity as something non-human, human-adjacent, or human in a different flavor! You're amazing and wonderful and I'm so proud of you for even considering being yourself in a world not built for you. Human, animal, object, concept, doesn't matter because you still deserve respect and love. I love you like all the little bugs I find outside, all beautiful and free.

People with conflicting labels? You're so cool. I don't care if you identify as a man and a lesbian at the same time. I don't care if you identify as a woman and a gay bear at the same time. I don't care how you identify, you're a living being and you're just as valid as everyone else. I love you like trinkets, all so unique and beautiful in your own ways.

Systems? You're spectacular and no origin of system or headmate could change my mind. Your system came about from trauma? I'm so proud of you for coping with your trauma and living your life happier and healthier with others that can support you. No trauma? That's okay! It's none of anyone else's business how you came about, what matters is that you're living your life the best way you can and I'm so proud of you. I love you like yarn, all so wonderful and varying and full of endless possibility.

Disabled people? Your disabilities don't make you any less deserving of respect and love, no matter what anyone says. You don't need to prove your usefulness to anyone that actually deserves to know you. You're allowed to be "useless". Your existence is a blessing even though I know it can be so difficult or impossible to do even basic tasks, and your worth is way beyond whatever anyone tells you you "should" be able to do. I love you like plushies, made to love and be loved, made to exist.

Neurodivergent people? You're so strong. This world was not built for your mind that varies so greatly from what's expected of you. Those of you that have a "dangerous" disorder, you're so valued and I'm so proud of you for being your best self, no matter those that say you're insane or manipulative just for being yourself. I love you like nature, unpredictable or scary to those unwilling to understand, you're beautiful not despite your brain but in tandem with it.

Xenogenders? You're epic. It's so awesome that you've been able to identify with concepts, objects, animals, characters, literally anything! You can be anything! Isn't that amazing? I don't care if it's cringe, I don't care. You're being yourself and that's so amazing. I love you like art, found in every place you look if you're looking with an open mind.

Religious people? It's so amazing that you've found something to believe in that helps you live your best life. As long as you're not using your religion to put others down, you have my support. It's so spectacular that you have something you believe in. Please don't let anyone take that away from you. I love you like rainbows, a miracle of life and a wonderful sight to see.

People with personality disorders? You're so valid. Granted I don't know much, but I do know that you deserve love and respect just as much as anyone else. No matter how misunderstood or mistreated, you're safe here. I'm always willing to learn and understand how to be a good person to everyone, no matter how "scary" you are. You're wonderful and I hope you know that. I love you like the ocean, full of so much vastness and beauty below the surface.

I love you I love you I love you!!!

However,

If you are a shitty person who forces yourself onto others or thinks that others are below you for what they believe in, do NOT be anywhere near my page. If you are any sort of -phobic, any sort of "minor liking person", any sort of asshole: I will automatically block you and you are NOT welcome here.

If you use my wholesome post to start drama or controversy I will block you. This is not a safe space for you if that is your intent.

This page is for loving, not hating.

Telling people to not smoke weed cause it's a sin is basically just saying God made a sin. But whatever floats your boat.

Christianity is actually really cool

I just got done binging Wendigoon's old series on Dante's Divine Comedy, and I have to say, it really gave me an appreciation for just how awesome Christian writings, and by extent the bible really are. It's so hard to appreciate the cool aspects of Christianity these days because so many people in Gen Z associate it with right-wing politics and annoying preachers. It's much easier when you are allowed to take in these ideas without people pressuring you to believe a certain thing about it.

And sure, there are still many ideas I disagree with, but the ideals of virtue in helping others and the way it's explained in the Christian cannon are really inspiring to me. The reputation of Christianity would be so much better with secular people if there were more Christians willing to explain Christianity in a manner that wasn't so pushy and judgmental.

Anyways, I just felt inspired to write this post and put my thoughts out there. Check out Wendigoons videos on Dante's Divine Comedy if you ever get the chance.

Look, I may not agree with all aspects of Catholicism, but the sexualization of nuns needs to stop.

You are actively sexualizing a group of women who dress the way they do BECAUSE they don't want to be sexualized. The sexy nun costumes are not only not cute, but deeply insulting.

Do y'all do this to women who wear hijabs?

You don't have to like the religion but that's no grounds to be straight up disrespectful.

"her body her choice" well these women are choosing their own way how to dress---stop mocking them.

is it just me or is a lot of christian stuff kind of ominous. like once i saw a sign outside a church or something that said "jesus died on the cross" and i think that would be an incredibly sinister sign without the background knowledge of christianity i have absorbed by growing up in the united states. also look at this fucking ad

Is It Just Me Or Is A Lot Of Christian Stuff Kind Of Ominous. Like Once I Saw A Sign Outside A Church

bro i do not want to see the Wounds of the Scourging. why are you like this

even the cross as a symbol seems pretty weird? "yeah our favorite guy died horribly on this shape one time so now its our favorite shape" fuckin pardon? like i get that its more about the resurrection or whatever but the dying horribly is the part that actually happened on the cross right?

i just think its kind of silly when religious people get all judgy about the mythology of other religions. they are ALL weird calm down. people can believe what they want if its not hurting anyone its literally fine

To people who know the 💫Bible💫, can you explain to my little atheist brain if, at any point, it is said that God is the nice one.

Because, from what I know of the book, God :

- acted as a f-ing terrorist in Egypt (killed the farm animals, the croos, the water of the Nile, created a plague and Then, killed all the firstborns, like... are they not all also God's creation at the same level than the hebrew ?)

- asked Abraham to sacrifice his son just to see if he would do it (bro WTF ?!)

- destroyed all life except what was on the arch during the big rain/inundation

- created Adam and Eve with reproductive organs and then ban them from their world just because they used them

- impregnate a young girl/woman (first wtf) to have with her a prophet son whose destiny is to be tortured and killed to expiate the sins of humanity (second wtf)

I'm sure there is a lot of other examples but that is all I can think now.

So... is there a moment like at the beginning where it is said that God is the good guy and y'all just accepted it or did you choose them over everything without a clear indication ? If so, why ?!

Like all they seem to do is horrible thing for selfish reason, so please explain how it is the epitome of a good creator ?

Ok, so I know it's not my usual fair, but I just got my Hestia statue for my Altar, and I'm really really happy 😁 she actually came in, I think, a little earlier than expected, which is great 👍

For reference, this is what my Altar now looks like!

Ok, So I Know It's Not My Usual Fair, But I Just Got My Hestia Statue For My Altar, And I'm Really Really

Ok, So I Know It's Not My Usual Fair, But I Just Got My Hestia Statue For My Altar, And I'm Really Really

So, the statue is pretty obvious, it's definitely the only statue there so far, and it's in praise of Hestia, goddess of the Hearth. Also for Hestia is the big ass painting(made by one of my absolute best friends in the world who is unfortunately not on this app but made it for my birthday 'cause she's awesome like that!!!), and then a couple of basily, minty smells for the wax melter. I also have a more official altar for Hestia that sits on the mantle piece; it's a little mini forest candleholder thing that I made a while ago with a candle that really just reminds me of Her.

The car is for Hermes, god of Messengers and Thieves. It's mainly there because He helps me a lot when I'm driving, and it felt fitting, but there's also a sticker with the number 4 on it(his sacred number) and four flowers that seemed like his vibe. There's also a strawberry because it's one of his sacred foods, but low-key I always forget that, even though I'm constantly eating strawberries 😂 He has some wax scents, but not too many, just because there weren't that many that spoke to me for him.

Right now, all I have for Apollo is a sun sticker with seven crows(both his sacred number and his sacred bird. Fun fact about that, when I was looking for stickers to decorate the altar with, there were exactly seven crows, and I think that's pretty cool), a few scents(mainly summery fresh ones, right now I have a honeysuckle scent that just really spoke to me.), and a ring I got from my grandmother that isn't shown.

I do have a few items such as the ring holder, the smaller painting (made by the same girl who did the big one), and the heart that just seemed to fit. I don't directly pray to any deities that find those items symbolic, but it couldn't hurt to keep them handy, right?

Anyways, I have a bracelet for Hermes coming in the mail that's supposed to come soon, so maybe I'll post that, too. Have a good day!

I know I don't rant on here too much, or talk on here, really, but I have to scream about this. I was scrolling through my recommended articles just now, and this popped up.

Now, while I do not pray to Ares nor do I particularly enjoy his mythology, I know that as a legitimate deity, he is truly a wonderful deity. He is a protector of women, he is a defender of rape, domestic violence, and war victims, and so much others. He has so many myths in which he helps people, and honestly, he and Aphrodite are pretty strong, too.

He, much like Hades or Thanatos, does not deserve to be vilified because of fictional media! I enjoy participating in fandom as much as anyone, and I'm a very big fan of Percy Jackson, but Ares is not a villain, and for this article to come not from a fandom site, but an at least semi academic site, is very upsetting.

I just had to get that out of my system, sorry

Wow, imagine being able to pray to someone, spending all your time on someone as if that person were the only one who existed and a guide for you, as if they were a muse or actually a God... You become so interested that it becomes mutual, bordering on obsession, since you only seem to have each other when you meet... Reaching the climax of the relationship where that person gives you the privilege of letting you eat their flesh and drink their blood... I wish I could give my all to one person, to the point where they would literally let me eat them...

Every time I sit down to eat I have this impulse to pray to my lost God. An habit of years ago, that shocks me. It will always be there, in the small things where I used to find him.

This is also why I like 40k

Like I know, this point has been done to death, but the horus heresy is familiar to Lucifers' rebellion. Like I find the 30k/40k setting the perfect blend of all the different religions I like!

I'm not a very religious person. I love stories, and all religions have their own unique takes on scientific phenomenon. They have cool monsters and gods and magic.

40k in its absurd parody blends all the craziest bits of religion and folk lore. I think that's why I latched onto it.

Okay, I'm going to preference this before I make my claim and later draw my art.

I grew up protestant (if u don't know what that is, neither do I, I think it's one of the chiller forms of Christianity though) my immediate family wasn't super religious,(my mom probably the most) but we lived in a hick town in a rural part of the USA.

I would consider myself now agnostic. When I finally figured out I was queer and trans I deconverted and was one of those raging fedora atheists for a year or two.

Then I moved halfway around the world, made a bunch of friends all with different veiw points, met the platonic soul mate, and did a lot of self refection. I let go of the rage, the anger the betrayal, and finally admitted that I didn't know the true workings of the universe.

I personally now still don't believe in God(big g) or really any other gods.

I personally believe in a more lovecraftian/cosmicism view of the universe.

Are there any true gods? Maybe. But if so, they are as alien and unknowable as the deep abyss between the stars. Personally, I don't really think they care whether you worship them or not.

Now, I'm also a proponent in calling The Abrahamic god by his "actual name" as "God" is a title, not a name. His name was/is Yahweh. Personally, i see him more a god akin to Zues and Odin.

But anyway, all this to say:

I love og Christian mythology!

Like I'm talking stuff like the tower of babble was torn down cause Yahweh was an asshole who just wanted to see what happened if everyone spoke different languages.

That same stuff where Satan/the devil/Lucifer wasn't the snake in the garden of Eden. And the snake had motherfuckin legs, and as punishment, Yahweh said, "heha crawl bitch!" And made it so snakes nolonger had legs.

Like, I loved learning all these fun things and equated them to the Greek myths of promethus, Icurus, etc. You know?

I also loved the fanfics that a lot of people just except as cannon now.

Paradise lost(gave us sympathetic Lucifer, some fire quotes, and a lot of people forget "Sin" daughter of Lucifer and guardian to the gates of hell)

Danté's divine comedy(this was a particular favourite of mine, had a kickass videogame adaptation, and help set up how a lot of fans structure hell and the sins)

The lesser and greater keys of Solomon (Gave us 72 new characters and updated lore on hell's hierarchy, as well as some angle lore and Solomon's ring!)

Like objectively, the Abrahamic faith and the offshoot(mainly Jedehisim and Christiananity, sorry I've never read the Quran) have some genuinely cool stories.

And let's not forget the cool ass artefacts. The Ring of Solomon (can bind any summoned demon into servitude, if worn on different fingers grant's different powers.) The spear of destiny(the spear tip used to peirce Jesus. It took in his demigod blood and so never rusted and could alter the course of history)

Now again, I'm going to say I do not believe any of this. If *you* do cool.

I also condemn orginised religion! People often use it to get into positions of power and abuse their followers. It is often used as a political stance as well as justification of horrid unforgivable acts.

I like the myths, legends, and stories, not the people who use them irl to hurt and take advantage of the innocent, forgotten, and the other.

That pope openly spoke against misogyny and mass rape of women and girls. He openly tried to crack down on pedophilia in the church. He spoke often of the damages caused by radical regimes and fascism. He also called up churches in war zones and such to check if they needed help from the Vatican. He often left his palace and preformed work even most cardinals would consider “beneath someone of their standing”.

Overall he was legit a man of god who practiced the word more than any pope in our modern time. The Catholic Church is lesser for his death and while I have issue with the church he wasn’t a problem by a long shot. Imagine being so lost in your hate boner you attack a progressive fuckin pope who saved more lives and helped more women and girls than any celebrity or has been author could hope too.

I’d shame you but shame requires the ability to feel emotions and you lost that many years ago I’m guessing.
