My professor and I had an in depth conversation on public education today.
As someone whose had bad experiences with people significantly older than me, it's refreshing and eye opening interacting with someone respectful and knowledgeable without being degrading.

Cases of Skin Rash are increasing everyday because of bacterial , fungal or viral infections , on the other sides alot of insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and flies, which act as vectors. What we are witnessing in shelter centers and displacement camps from the accumulation of stagnant water and inadequate management of waste and sanitation provides a fertile ground for disease vectors. Every day we see in our Medical point about 50 cases of multi-cause rash. 😥💔

Am I the only one who on the other hand just gets exhausted from school and absolutely hates it, but on the other hand I can't stop thinking about other girls and women who can't go to school because they're not allowed to.
It always makes me realize how lucky I am that I was born in a Western country and not in countries where women have (almost) no rights, but it is still so unfair why this even exists in 2025 (!). That there are still not equal rights for everyone everywhere in the world. Even the 'richer' countries know what is going on, but are doing absolutely nothing to stop it.

I read a post earlier and then lost it before I could reblog it with some interesting information so I'm gonna throw the information out into the void.
The original post was a comment about how no one who has ever inked a comic has ever met a person of color before. They had very valid complaints about bad shading and inconsistent skin tones.
And y'all know me. I am a fiend for comic industry history.
Color in comics is obviously a huge deal, not just in skin but for iconic costume designs. The oldest and most well-known characters tend to be bright shades of red, blue, green and/or black. This is true across the board in early comics and it's due to a variety of factors. The biggest one being that most comics, to be made cheaply, could only use around 63 colors for a standard issue. On top of that, the way the DC and Marvel printed their comics was basically with pointillism and shifting densities.
Before I wind up regurgitating the whole article, let me link one of my go-to resources.
And
Actually, womenwriteaboutcomics.com in general is a fantastic educational tool and a great way to keep an eye out for opportunities to submit your own comic story submissions.
Thanks for letting me nerd out about comic history again!
So baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964
This means that they entered college between 1964 and 1982
The total average cost to go to Public College including tuition room and board ranged from $950 in 1964 to $2945 in 1982
While they were on college they could count on making at least $1.25 an hour in 1964 to $3.35 an hour in 1982
This means that spending the 18 weeks during summer working full time at minimum wage they would make $900 dollar in 1964 and $2412 in 1982
That means someone going to school 1964 would only have to work 40 hours during the school year to completely pay for all of their expenses.
Someone going to school in 1982 had it a little worse, they had to work for less than 160 hours during the school year to completely cover their expenses.
To put this in perspective in 2006 (the most recent year that the Dept of Edu reports) a public college education cost $11,034
The minimum wage was $5.15 in 2006
That means to pay for school in 2006 at minimum wage you would have to work just over 2142 1/2 hours to pay for school.
Working full time year around, without any time off, is only 2080 hours
How to Answer the Top 35 Asked Interview Questions from The Undercover Recruiter here. Posted for friends looking for jobs this summer. Unfortunately you may also be asked illegal questions and these are two pretty good articles here and here.
Christopher Gray, 21, a Drexel University junior and CEO/Founder of Scholly, has found a way to make finding those scholarships easier.
Gray himself has been very successful in finding scholarship funds. He is known as the “Million-Dollar Scholar” after being awarded $1.3 million in scholarships.
Over the past three years, Gray has also helped other families manually scour through databases, and figured, “Hey, I need something that can help. There has to be a faster way.”
Gray developed the answer in the form of Scholly, an app that uses eight specific parameters, like state, GPA, or race, to instantly filter through a deep directory of scholarships available for the prospective student.
“It’s extremely simple,” says Gray and that ultimately was the goal.
“The fact that it’s on the mobile (phone) really hits the audience,” says Soham Bhonsle, 21, a Scholly user and Drexel University senior. “It serves the need of its time. We want it on the go.”
Nicholas Pirollo, chief technological officer for Scholly, also offers that apps optimize searches compared to standard websites because they are more tailored to specific needs.
A recent study, conducted by Sallie Mae, shows that 39% of families used scholarship funds to pay for college during the 2012-2013 academic year and Scholly connects users with relevant scholarships in about five minutes. Scholly’s database is updated monthly to remove scholarships that are no longer available, add scholarships, and refresh deadlines.
There is money out there to go to school. Scholly has more than 10,000 downloads of the $0.99 app found in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Scholly’s costs are intentionally positioned at an affordable price to serve more people that need it and boast a potential big payoff.
“Pay 99 cents and you may get $5,000 or $6,000 in scholarships.”
Scholly helps put the power of funding your education in your hands.

As of the 19th of December, 2023, there is new transgender guidance for education in Britain. To put it bluntly, it’s awful.
(All of the screenshots and information are from the itvNews article published on this day)
The first alarming aspect comes under changing pronouns. According to this, schools are allowed to simply decline a change in pronouns. This is completely unacceptable, considering that adding or subtracting a single syllable from a sentence is not a chore. In a society, wherein female teachers can very easily go from being referred to as Miss to Mrs, it is hypocritical to deny someone the right to be referred to correctly.
Secondly, what are the ‘other options’ referenced here? Does that include denying the child of preferred pronouns, or maybe educating them on why there are not who they say they are? This non-clarity raises important questions that are conveniently ignored.
The third concern comes under the physical education and sport section, as seen here. What concerns me is the implied idea that it would be dangerous and unfair for two children of opposite sexes to interact in a sport together. At all. That a 12 year old boy and a 12 year old girl would come out of a game of football together permanently damaged is such a common idea is barbaric. At this point, it is not only an issue of transphobia, but sexism, as well, to insinuate that - most likely - a girl will be terrorised by playing with a boy. Furthermore, it suggests that they must be kept apart for their safety!
All in all, say what you really want to say; either you don’t think girls are the same as boys, or you don’t want transgender people to live happy lives.
I genuinely don’t know how to end this. It’s just insane to me that this is a society that preaches equality and freedom, and yet treats its population like we’re back in the 1900s. Get a fucking grip.

Genuine question?? Im a 19 y/o lesbian and ?? I dont find p*nis attractive does that make me a TERF?
I’m happy you sent this ask, because it’s a perfect place to talk about how someone can get hurt, feel wronged, and become susceptible to extremist recruiting.
First off, treat this as a simple yes or no question, asked with zero surrounding context, the platonic idea of penis preference if you will. “I don’t find penises attractive” is not a sentiment that makes you a TERF. You’re okay not liking them. My nonbinary wife doesn’t particularly like them, yet they are married to me (who has one) and we love each other more than anything in the world.
In fact, in the abstract, I don’t like ‘em much either, and I own one! Ridiculous looking thing, wish I didn’t have to deal with it. A general dislike of genitals doesn’t make you a TERF… not by itself.
Now, here is where the critical thinking comes in, because if you posted something like that on Tumblr or something, it has a different context. You might not even know! It could be a totally innocent mistake, and it happens, and some women either get criticized in ways that makes them feel attacked, or actually attacked because you never know if what you post online is hitting someone on a bad day or a good day.
The context first of all is, without any clarifying statements, saying you don’t like a genital could imply you’re reducing anyone with that particular set of genitals down to their genitals only. And it could result in either someone telling you it sounds TERFy (if they’re trying to be gentle) or calling you a TERF (if they’re out of spoons) because that’s what TERFs do. Here’s where it becomes a recruit pitch.
You say “I don’t like penises.” This doesn’t mean you’re saying you dislike trans women (not all of whom have penises anyway), but if you get the above lecture/yelling, a radfem can come along and empathetically agree how unfair it is that someone made you hurt for saying you don’t like a genital, and it’s not fair to tell a lesbian she has to sleep with a male or she’s a TERF and- OH WAIT A MINUTE!
Hold up, it looks like they were just being nice but wait wait, they just slid cozily from “it’s okay not to like a penis” to “anyone with a penis is male.” See that? Like a sleight of hand, once you’ve agreed with that premises, saying “I don’t like penises” suddenly becomes attached to “and anyone with a penis is male.”
Alright now in context, going back this kind of equivalency is so common with radfems that at this point saying you don’t like a genital is what we call a dogwhistle. It’s a phrase which is seemingly innocent, and can be innocent, which has been so widely appropriated by a hate group that it carries extra connotations in a certain context. Contexts like posting on Tumblr, which happens to have a particularly large trans population.
Now you can’t know every single dogwhistle because that’s the whole reason they exist - so normal people don’t spot someone’s bigotry and it looks like a disenfranchised group is getting angry over an innocent statement.
And lastly, which you probably already know, but generally not being interested in something doesn’t have to equate to disliking anyone with that trait, or even not being attracted to someone with that trait. I bring this up because the difference between a lesbian who just generally doesn’t like genital and a TERF is that the TERF things anyone with a penis is automatically bad and a male and probably reading this right now thinks I’m saying you have to have sex with men or like penises, somehow, despite saying exactly the opposite.
You may have a general preference, but in practice I’m sure you’ve already found a difference between “I am physically attracted to how this person looks” and “Holy shit I am in love this person is amazing and everything about them is beautiful.” If you haven’t had that experience yet, I can promise you some day you will. Not necessarily over genitals, but some day someone will come into your life and you’ll love every part of them whether or not it’s something you normally find abstractly attractive.
Keep your heart open to love, keep your mind open to constructive criticism, and you’ll never be a radfem or TERF or SWERF or whatever. That’s all.
I had a really weird experience with my teacher the other day.
Now for context, he's not my teacher. I had him for calculus last year after I switched from AB to on-level and got a near 100 in the class. I signed up for a teacher assistant position with him, thinking I'd be helping teach calculus. Nope. I ended up being a TA for Algebra 1 instead.
He's a very... interesting person, to say the least, and I've heard really mixed things about him over the year. I don't know where he stands on any issue I care about very much. I haven't had the courage to ask him about AI. I don't think he particularly cares for politics that much—not that I particularly care what he thinks—and has given very mixed responses on things. He seems to like Elon Musk, as he said that we're "Very fortunate to be in a time with him in it" or something of the sort because of what he did with electric cars.
But one thing I am absolutely certain of is that he doesn't like psychology and said at one point in front of the class of freshmen that I want to pursue a career in "stupid science." Now, mind you, there are at least two other kids in that class who want to go into psychology for a career. Which is awesome. I love that people have a passion for studying the mind.
He said that therapists (in a different instance) are hurting people more than helping people, and if I want to be a therapist, then I should just open a workout therapy place and call it a day. Because, according to him, workout is just as affective against Depression as antidepressants it's for mild depression, mild depression you ignorant fuck not major depressive disorder-- -_-
Anyway, I noticed that the kids in my class are making some rather inappropriate jokes about schizophrenia and being gay (which isn't a mental disorder, but I heard some distasteful comments that I couldn't let go unnoticed) before the break, and I had a long time to think on it, so when I came back, I asked Mr. Algebra teacher if I could talk to the class about how what they were saying wasn't okay.
He said that I have two minutes at the end of class, which isn't nearly enough time for me to talk about everything, but whatever. What struck me as odd and probably a Red Flag was how he kept trying to refute it and say that I shouldn't talk about it too seriously because they're just being immature. I made the argument that, yes, it's immature but it's also perpetuating stigmas that we don't want going around that can seriously hurt people and that what they were saying wasn't okay regardless. He said that people back in middle school said worse things like the r-word (which was also said here, but I didn't mention it), and I said sure but this is still bad as well. He said that I WAS RIGHT TO DO THIS AND SHOULD DO THIS 99 percent of the time, and internally I was just like why are you arguing with me and trying to backtrack this accomplishes nothing. He told me that I shouldn't expect for the issue to be resolved completely. I said I didn't expect it to.
I go up there and deliver my very awesome speech that he interrupted to make me get to my point faster, I guess. After I finished, he pulled me to the side and asked me what went well and what didn't. Which just felt... weird? I said that I think it went really well overall and that I didn't think anything was wrong. He said that he wished I didn't group the conversation about the gay stuff with the conversation about the schizophrenia and ocd stuff. To me, it felt like a very clear connection but oh well. He reiterated that I shouldn't expect to see much change. I said okay.
It's been almost a month.
GUESS WHO HASN'T HEARD A SINGLE COMMENT ABOUT SCHIZOPHRENIA, GAY INSULTS, OR ANYTHING REGARDING CALLING ANOTHER CLASSMATE OCD?
ME.
Take that, Mr. Algebra teacher.
It's the little wins that help me make it through the day, but honestly, this one is just completely boosting my self-esteem and confidence about being in the psychology field in the future.
I decided to write a bit about learning disabilities and my opinions on how they are handled in schools. I handwrote it as a demonstration of how my dysgraphia still affects my writing, but I also typed up a translation for anyone who might have trouble reading that.

Welcome, archeological japonists, to a new post, in which I once again criticize Japanese fashion and people who believe they can name or assign the term osushi (おすし), without any knowledge of it. The only thing I intend is to make things clear and that at least no one feels offended. Having said that, make yourselves comfortable because we are starting. - What is sushi? Suhi is composed of す which means vinegar and し which means rice, so it would be vinegared rice. The images that I am going to put below are an insult to Japanese and Spanish gastronomy. This is not sushi: images above. I'm sorry but for me that is not sushi, it is a gastronomic filth. This is sushi: images above.

Welcome, lovers of the Japanese world, to a new publication of current events. Having said that, make yourself comfortable, we're starting.
-
On this occasion, I am back again with bad news about the country of the rising sun. I see that people are very stupid and very clownish trying to gain some disgusting likes from migrants, comments, among other things, through the social network and acting like they are important, saying: Look where I've been, look what I've done, just to attract attention and make a fool of themselves. These types of scum don't care, they are not interested in history or culture or anything at all, nothing that has to do with any of these points mentioned above or anything similar; they only go to these countries, especially to the unknown country or surrounding countries, because they are fashionable and because it is the ultimate feeling to go there to look good and say to your friends or acquaintances, Look where I've been and you haven't. Because of scum and people like that, certain areas of the country of the rising sun are being banned for tourists. This doesn't mean that the Japanese hate foreigners and even less tourists; what they hate are certain actions or attitudes of said tourists, such as climbing, for example, the statue of an iconic dog called Hachiko in front of Shibuya station.
-
Or for example, like the case of the uneducated and immature Chilean woman for posing in a sacred place for the Japanese. For me, what the Chilean woman has done is slander and blasphemy, and for me, what tourists are doing in Japan by turning it into an amusement park is an insult. Please stop being an idiot or an imbecile in a country. Let people who really value and appreciate the culture, values, and customs of a country go there. I'm afraid to post this in 2025; the human race is shameful.

I hope you liked it and I'll see you in future posts. Have a good week.
- Welcome, archaeojapanologists; I want to make an appeal: on Instagram there are plenty of accounts like the one in the photo that use Wikipedia without scientific rigor and the worst thing is that there are people who are incredulous, or I don't know what to call them to soften it. Happy New Year 2025!

Welcome japonistasarqueologicos to a new installment. This time, I'm going to bring you the definition of what archaeology is, what are its sub-disciplines. Having said that, make yourselves comfortable, we're starting.
-
Surely we've all asked ourselves at some point: What is archaeology? What periods does it cover? What countries does it study? Surely when we talk about archaeology, many of us think of images like dinosaurs or Indiana Jones, they are a classic, but that is a wrong view, since archaeologists are not dedicated to that.
-
Archaeology as a discipline is interdisciplinary, which means that it borrows from other disciplines what it needs: such as history, biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics and astronomy, among others. An archaeologist must have a minimum knowledge of all the existential disciplines, since in an archaeological site we can find everything, we must know how to identify each element that we find, but in the site there is a team of specialists in history, biology and other disciplines, who are in charge of their respective studies, archaeology is a discipline of group work.
